How do you stand, play , etc in live gigs and stuff?
showmanship is impt, but i dunwanna act luike a clown doing alot of fanciful stuff.

lol.. do the powerstance, dont stand too stiff, headbang occasionally, if ur playing rhythm try to run around abit, jump around abit to get the crowd high, really really feel ur music, cause if u cant feel ur music urself, i doubt the crowd can.. dont be a zombie..
for more examples, watch school of rock or almost famous..
hope this helps :)

ps: always respect the stage, do not splash water around or jump on amps and stuff..

caracal, the fire fight, trella and west grand boulevard are just some of the local bands whose guitarists have great showmanship IMO. should go check them out =D

You don't have to fling your guitar around or whatever, just have to make sure you sound damn F***ING GOOD. Look at megadeth.

please tell that to John Petrucci.

can't agree more.

And people running around the stage with their guitar doing stupid act usually to cover their sloppiness in playing and hoping the audience will get distracted and not too focus on the playing

Guns N' Roses my brothers! Slash runs around playing awesome solos, that's called all-rounded. They had the presence and they just pretty much, just interacted and ran around. Don't be afraid to express your feelings in the music. I jump abit while jamming, though it seems really poseur ;D

Cheers,
WWH

wohooo!! dillinger escape plan!! norma jean and the chariot have some good moves too..

local bands trella and passenger service also have good showmanship

bottomline is showmanship must always be second to technical mastery, if you play like shit, you will sound like shit, no matter how damn good you like, when you sound like shit, you'll look like a lousy poser.

Joe Trohman of Fall Out Boy.
I think his live performance is really good and energetic.
He's got showmanship and the TROHMANIA (his signature spin move).
He simply loses it in every music videos and concerts.

iron maiden....i just love to see them play live(in video of course). ok bias. iron maiden is my fav band. wakakkaka

haha, iron maiden shiok!!
but i dont understand how they wear those super tight leather pants..
and the solos are freaking awesome!
