Hi guys, i a noob guitarist looking for some help.I have been playing the electric guitar for some time and struck at the same level for quite a while. Really dont know how to move on. Can any1 out there guide me and teach me how to improve?

1st thing 1st where are u , if i don't know where are u how to tell u how to move on lol

hmm i can do some simple song by luna sea but i m totally lost at x japan song. cant improve any further. my finger always stuck. Somemore i cant improvise at all in solo can only improvise in rhythm

practice makes purrfect haha....take ur time...slowly learn....no one is fighting with you lol

haha, maybe for u, u could try the hardworking-metronome way
play difficult songs slowly, den gradually up the tempo til u can play it perfectly in the original speed
for help with the techniques u could always use the omnipotent search engine called google

What X japan song are u playing. Cos X Japan's songs are not easy to play esp the fast songs, Even if u're playing endless rain, it takes some time to figure out the solo parts too.

And what sons are u playing for luna sea. Cos luna sea too have both relatively easy and difficult songs. We need to know wat level u are at b4 we can help u.

Cheers! Peace :)

Hey thanks guys. for luna sea i can only manage love song and i for u, some song i can play r glamorous sky, Cage and X - until solo dat part cannot.when i try to move fast the sound coming out from the amp is unbearable haha.

Alright man.. Love song and I for u are relatively easy song. Great that u can play them. :)

My Advice for X japan songs are to go download guitar pro. Then play tgt with guitar pro. 1st u start playing slowly then as u get more used to it, then u play faster.
Guitar pro has a function where u can adjust the tempo to the speed u wan, so u can play tgt with the song slowly while u get used to the fingering of the solo. Initially i also can't play that fast esp weekend and rusty nail. But with prac, it makes perfect.

Cheers! Peace :)

get a teacher. it'll really help you, trust me. I was stuck at some point and i finally got a teacher to help me out and i managed to get over that wall. And keep practicing!

don't worry about that, if you keep thinking I need to go fast then u miss out a lot of other aspects about music and you still can't go fast, if you think about other stuff like how to make nice solos or how to play guitar very comfortably etc.. you can't help but your fingers can auto play fast. Can you eleborate more on how u improvise on rhythm? maybe I could use that to help u in other stuff

Oo normally when playing chords i will tend to use different types of chord like G sumtimes i will fill in with G7 for and add in some other things during chord progession. Haha i do this cause sumtimes u get real bored doin same things again and again. Yah wanted to find a teacher but i heard it cost a bomb rite? Ard 40 or more and hour for a good teacher to teach.

Yup, it'll be great if u can get a teacher to teach u cos its always better to have someone to guide u thru if after all the means u have tried can't help u to progress. Cos sometimes it could be there's prob with ur picking or fingering, so a teacher can help u.

Not necessary it'll cost a bomb.

U can check out this guy here. Reasonable rates

ITs abt prac the correct way. Continue to strive hard dude.

Cheers! Peace :)

hmm ok 1 good thing to note is about chord voicing. Which note of the chord u make it louder and for eg a G7 for me i'll make the F louder because i want to emphasize on the 7th note. Now if you link a series of chords together with 1 note louder the note becomes a melody, eg, C , G , Dmin7 ,C. The notes that are voiced are E G F E (they are the last note u played of the chord). Next look at your strumming pattern for eg. 4/4 time u do 2 strums per chord so the notes that are voiced will be E E G G F F E E. so if you were to just play the notes E E G G F F E E, over the C G Dmin7 C progression you've already got an improvised solo. Now it doesn't sound quite nice so u can throw in passing notes and change the rhythm a bit. so u can do something like E E G G FGAF E E. Notice i added in the G and A notes to make it interesting. so what u can do is from there u develop on it changing notes or adding notes or taking away notes. Is just about experimenting, find out more remember what u like finally get your own kind of sound.

Can understand?

Can. Improvising on improvised lines. Sounds great to me. I'll share. I started off as an aocustic guitarist. When first come to eletric it was super challenging for me. Slowly as you play with the songs, you learn what lines sound nice and what notes sound good... It's mostly practice, and of course, what you would like to hear. Can't play fast? No problem. Do scales. Up and down with a metronome.

Hi every one yah i guess i understand. I think i have to spend some time to pratice. Btw by learning new song benefit more or doin finger exercise?

I think it's best to learn new song, while at that you take some part of the songs as finger excersise. For eg. maybe cliffs of dover by eric johnson. Some parts wahh shred so fast. so u take that part and break it down very important to break it down into smaller bits and just keep playing it over and over again. Treat it as finger exercise but don't keep thinking of must play fast, think of u must be comfortable with it. If you can talk to someone while playing it and u can get it right, means u are comfortable only then u can try to speed up. So when u can play it comfortably u can play the song.

Play the below scales in 4/4 timing both accending and decending and you'll be able to improvise magicially:

Start with C major scales first
C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C
C, D, D, E, E, F, F, G, G, A, A, B, B, C, C
C, E, D, F, E, G, F, A, G, B, A, C, B, D, C, E
C, F, D, G, E, A, F, B, G, C, A, D, B, E, C, F
C, G, D, A, E, B, F, C, G, D, A, E, B, F, C, G

Hope this helps.
