How to increase ur vocal range?

I have a pretty low voice, was wondering if it is possible to increase my vocal range. Are there any ways to do that?

Extending your range.

Extending your range.

Extending your singing range doesn't happen overnight. Choose something to sing that is comfortable - something that doesn't make you feel like you are straining too much to reach the high or low notes. It's alright to find a few notes (words or parts) of a song difficult, just not the whole song. Keep trying, softly at first, then as you start to feel more comfortable introduce a bit more power

haha yeah. u cant increase your vocal range overnight. its true. considering that im a chorister who sings alto2. that's the lowest for females anyway. after a yr of trying to hit all the lowlow notes, u realize tt u can sing them without problem now. basically requires lots of practise. :)

u mean u can actually increase voice range?? my voice is pretty low and i wanna sing songs that requires a higher pitch...but i can' reach the notes... mostly when i try to pitch those high notes...my sound cracks or like...splits... i dunno if u understand wat i'm trying to say..haha

yesss voice range can increase one! u think mariah carey could reach all the high notes from birth? i dont think so. ahaha, just sing songs with higher keys every day. like progress slowly la. until u can finally reach kelly clarkson's pitch! haha, but yes, dont give up. it IS possible. =D

yeah man.. actually i already kinda noticed it...my voice used to be quite low and recently since more than 2 months ago i started singing songs wif higher pitches...
even those punk rock i oso cannot sing sial...then i try and try...then end up always zao xia (mispitch). but now my voice seems to be able to reache the notes i couldn't before...and i still can go as low as i used to.

i'm juz wondering now...if i can reach really high pitches without much effort in the future, will my normal used-to-be low voice still be there?? i'm afraid like...when i can reach high notes, then my normal voice oso becomes higher...then slowly i sound like a gay or something..cuz now my voice still can be low low wan..

well..me being a drummer...i oso wanna try to sing for my band...i dowan to juz crash the cymbals and play grooves..i want to do like..multi task..noe wat i meaN?..yeah...that's y i'm asking this..heh heh

i suggest u go take vocal class... teaches u the proper way .. u can train ur voice to get good voice, like what JJ lin did, and u wont sound like gay or wadever,, -.-...

lol..it's ok.. i don't plan to really train my voice professionally..i juz wanna reach most notes..yeah... thanx for all the info anyway..

In my experience, many vocal teachers have no certification at all. Perhaps all they've they have had some singing experience. It's almost like anybody who has sung before can teach one. My advice is not to go for "cheap classes" coz you might end up spoiling your voice with improper guidiance - and end up worse than you were to start with. If a teacher charges a lot, there probably is a reason why. ;)
You can't really tell whether the teacher can really teach till you've spent some time with him or her. A good rule of thumb though, is to ask the teacher to give you a demo, if he or she can sing then it's a somewhat safer bet to go with him or her. How can a teacher teach you if he or she cannot teach himself?

haha im a drummer-vocalist too but anyway. seriously, unless u really wanna go pop or sth. DONT take vocal lessons. waste of money la. i doubt u are tone-deaf, as long as ur not tone deaf, dont need trainer. and abt the voice changing thing. that's bs. wont happen. lol if it were true then i wld have been able to see the vast difference in my choir already. and yah, good to know tt u've improved. and dont worry abt ur voice losing its "lowness", all i have to say is practise regularly, keep in touch with tt side of ur voice. practise a wide variety of songs with different pitches and keys. this increases ur voice's flexibility and range. yup. and for those who really wanna have vocal lessons, go to jj's one. the ocean butterfly. heard they're quite a good company. they give dance classes and whatsoever too.

haha thanx hush...

very enlightening.. :D i'm quite happy that my vacal range allows me to reach notes that i couldn't have reached in the past...haha i'll keeping singing singing singing...

I disagree that vocal lessons are a waste of money. They may not radically change your voice, but they will help in things like maintaining your voice after singing for long periods of time. Stuff like reducing strain on your vocal chords.
You might be able to hit that note, but you might be straining so hard that you'll regret it later.
Some pple are born to sing, though. They are just more aware of healthy vocal production.

"can give me tips on how NOT...i repeat...NOT TO STRAIN YOUR VOCAL CHORD wHEN YOU TRY TO PITCH HIGH NOteS"

hah u'll sound like a crow. and u'll feel the strain in your throat. and if it gets worse, it'll develop into a sorethroat. at least tt's what happens to me. and if u cant reach high notes, dont scream. tt's the worse. ya. scream the note, lose the voice. ha.
