How to get paul gilbert sound?

You can get Paul Gilbert's sound. However, you can never get Paul Gilbert's tone. The difference is, tone usually comes from the fingers. Buying the same set-up as Paul Gilbert won't get you near to Paul Gilbert's tone. It's not like a tome of paul gilbert X1. Anyway just for a guideline, he has high treble, middle mids and low bass. He cranks the distortion on tube amplifiers and uses a Majikbox Fuzz Universe to add a little more gain.
His set-up:
GUITAR: New Ibanez PGM301, vintage Ibanez guitars
PICKUPS: DiMarzio Tone Zone, DiMarzio PAF Classic
PEDALS: Ibanez Tube Screamer, Fulltone OCD, Xotic Effects AC Booster, Fulltone Soul Bender.
Then again, it would be crazy to believe that he has only used the abovementioned pedals. He probably has a room full of pedals which he has not shown/revealed to the nosey guitar-geeks-like-you-and-me/tone-whores/guitarworld/guitar-news-people.

I hate to say this but it's true. Not many ppl can get his tone. He attack the six strings in so many different degree and precision that create his signature sound. There's only one guy that gets very close on YouTube and he is remyhanson. Not forgetting that he had many private lessons from the man himself. Remy probably learned his string dynamics that is so essential in getting the correct sound. Try picking hard and clean on those fast runs and out will get pretty close. If you remember seeing some of his clinic video on YouTube you will see that he uses many different amps, some crappy ones too but he still gets a big tone out of them from his picking and muting technique.

Gilbert has been changing his setup so often lately.. haha which tone are you talking about? PAFs with laney amps? or his current single coils with marshall jvms?
at this point if we wondering what i'm talking about, or since when did his tone change, then we can safely conclude that tone is in da fingers! haha
