hi guys, how do you boost your guitar sounds...other than changing your pickups n turning your vol. knob 2 the max...i was thinking about pedals, something like the MXR micro amp...other than this pedal, what other pedals do you guys use 2 boost you guitar sound

other than heightening my pups, i know pedals plays a part too....can recommend me pedals other than MXR micro amp

it depends. What kind of boost do you want? Distortion? Compression? Clean volume boost? Perhaps an EQ boost/cut? Be specific, we can assist you better.

I think u want some kind of a boost for ur solos right? To cut thru the mix or smthing like tt right?

If tt's the case then i recommend a TS-9 or SD-1

louder sound? More volume eh? You could try having an EQ after your distortion unit for increased output and some tone shaping, or you could use the pedals mentioned above with high 'level' (output) settings.

if like me, you already like what you hear from your guitar/ amp, it's adviseable to get a non-drive booster. i'm using 3 in the mean time:

*MXR Microamp (personal fav)
*Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster
*Behringer Preamp Booster

so if i want 2 get a drive booster, would a SD-1 be suitable? even if im not playing any solos?? But is it ok if i use the micro amp after all the distortion i have....

thanks guys, its really helps :D

hey subversion mind doing a review for the behringer preamp booster?

the cheapo in me seems interested in the new behringer series. But the skeptical me thinks they arent worth the money.

bro- the review is ready, there's a little hiccup with regards to posting it up but it's being looked into already 8)

i didn't even try the pedal in store- just went there, paid for it, brought it home. i'm a booster fan mainly because i already like what my guitar(s) & amp have to offer

it really depends on your needs. some players want a lot of drive injection, others just want a mere kick in performance. for drive type boosters, i've tried & recommend the following, there's no 'best' among the list, it's really up to you to decide after trying them:

*BOSS DS-1
*MXR WYLDE Overdrive
*Ibanez TS-7 Tubescreamer
*Digitech Tone Driver

MXR's Micro Amp can be placed at the end of your signal chain to counter signal loss, it can be placed after a drive pedal to boost it or you can hook it up at the amp's end (parallel connection via the amp's FX Loop feature- some amps have it, some don't...). 8)

There's also the TS9DX :)

How abt a Demeter Mid Boost? :) I have 1 custom designed... plonked into a true bypass pedal. If you want 1, pm me.

try turning down the Gain, and dialling more volume first. Play a bit harder when you strum. The extra compression from your pick attack can make it sound more distinct and hence sound louder.

Sorry to hijack this thread.
Iv been planning to buy a pedal to boost my solos.
Is the mxr micro amp worth it even if i dont have an effects loop
(mine is a cheap and old model amp)
or should i buy more conventional pedal like the metalzone to
boost the solo.

the hard distortion type pedals, metal zone/ uber metal/ jackhammer/ etc are more effective as a primary drive source rather than being used as a booster, not saying that they can't fulfill the booster job at all but they weren't made to be such.

the MXR Microamp & any other booster type pedals are only worth it if they fulfill your needs, especially after you've heard them in action.

ok, not to supplement a hijack too much 8)

thanks guys...btw anyone planning 2 sell the digitech tone driver or the Wylde overdrive as 2nd hand...wanna try
