Hi, I was wondering, how much do drum lessons cost? I heard that Yamaha's are quite expensive (no offence) but never really knew how much it cost...Can anyone tell me?

With yamaha, it depends on the books. I think 1st book is like 80, second is about 90 something per month. Registration about 30 I think.

i suppose if you want to have a grading system and all, yamaha's the only place in singapore to go. i thought 50 dollars would be a more reasonable gauge for individual lessons, out of yamaha. like i'm now taking lessons from tony zee, and he charges 45 dollars per lesson. but i guess i sort of would like to have a syllabus to follow.

consider taking group lessons at yamaha (the 60 dollars one per month), then move up to individual. they're cheaper.

There are a few softies ard here that provides Drum lesson. Either individual or group.

Approach or pm bklk, Darron, chewy, DRMP or pulse_ironica.

They'll be glad to help.

Hi

for yamaha they have set difference level from stage 1 to stage 4 for group lesson. Stage 1 for novice starting per mth is $63+. Stage 2 is abt $78+ etc...Individual lesson cost slightly higher. Can call them or visit PS for more information.

Another school to recommend is replugged music school. They have only individual lesson cost u 90 per mth.

hey man,
from wat i can tell most of the better teachers are abit older, abt 35 and above, although there are some exceptions. u dun just wanna get a grade right, u wanna learn the proper way of doing things. jerrry or ah tat, he now teaches at yamaha. use to teach me, he is quite an awesome teacher alot of practical experience. abt 40 onwards is a good gauge for a gd teacher. jimmy lee i heard is really good and its abt 40 i think. he'll really get the basics hammered into. sometimes u got to see if that teachers why of teaching matches with ur way of learning as well, he may be great but not great for u if u get wat i mean. know wat u want before hand so u can gauge if he's teaching u wat u want. on the other hand wat u want to learn may be not wat u need to learn. its a fine line.

get laid,

Ha, you've just catagorised abt 50% of the teachers out there as "not so good"....

yes i have.

but i'm sure ur awesome alvin, i wld be ur student in 2 shits of a shake.
hehhhehehehe, most of the really gd teachers i've had are older. younger guys either dun have the playing exp or they can play but haven't become gd teachers yet.

Ha, I'm not as young as I look.....seriously, I'm really happy with what I've seen since I'm back. There are some really good young teachers out there. Vicknes is one, brandon is pretty cool too I heard and there's daniel too.....things are changing a little and I'm happy that it is!

i was a yamaha student myself, but it only paints half the picture. you have to do your own 'outside practise', and playing in a band is usually the best. yamaha also does not concentrate too much on rudiments, which is something that plagues me now.

individual lessons there are 80 odd for half an hour. thats actually good because half an hour of solid lessons are good enough, the rest comes with practise. yamaha teaching also covers many genres so it's a good place to start. plaza singapura branch has lim wee guan (of the quests) and anthony fong/fung, who's great with funk.

brandon (lim) is very good too, he charges more though. jimmy lee is also teaching but i forgot where!

good luck in finding a teacher mate :)

Jimmy Lee teaches at Music clef!:D

to be taught by him would mean you have to stick with him for a long time because he is one who will not take a short cut:)

hmmm i think 80 per half hour is a bit expensive? market rate is about 40-50...
