Okay, Squier.

The Affinity Telecaster is supposdly to be an Alder body telecaster for $169USD

like so

Series Affinity Series
Body Alder

and the Squier Standard series telecaster all have Agathis bodies.
In alot of guitars that are considered High end (Jackson Rhoads) all use Alder bodies for their instruments.

So why is it that the Affinity series uses an "Alder" body when the Standard series uses an Agathis(The norm) body for its lower end guitars?

the common misconception is always that a certain body wood is meant for a high end guitar, while others like agathis are meant for the pariah entry-level units.

manufacturers often use the leftover bits from their parent company for their lower end guitars, regardless of what they are. for instance, i've seen a stripped Fender body made form 7 pieces of alder blocks- so are these superior to say a 3-piece basswood guitar of some other brand name?

PS: no, Fender DON'T make it a point to make their more affordable units from many pieces of wood, i just happen to come across one.
