Hey, do you think its advisable to change my highway series to an american standard? The tones extremely bright for the highway, well, can anyone with an american standard there tell me hows the sound and feel of it?

There could be a variety of factors affecting the bright tone. Amp, pickups for example. Personally, i myself have guitars which sound like shit at first but with the right pickups and amp settings, they can sing.

Have you ever considered the option of swapping pickups? Perhaps a set with lower highs, more bass and mids to help balance out the sound?

yo spikes...
my friend had a sammick strat.. it sounded like crap..but had reasonably good action. he installed a set of Kinmans avn blues.. and i recall his strat being a very very nice sounding guitar after that.

no doubt an american strat will give you better quality/tone. But the price is really quite high.. and a set of good single coils can be removed and installed in any other strat you get... should you decide to upgrade in the future

dimarzios , seymour duncans --- cheaper pickups.. but still great sounding...

lindy fralins , kinmans ..etc.. boutique.. expensive..
