hello

i am looking for a solution to a "live" performance problem.

My instrument is an acoustic instrument that is picked up using microphones through a audio interface into the laptop. i need a software running on a laptop (mac or windows) that can do the following.

1) have a specific delay in terms of milliseconds. this delay need to be turned on and off with a foot switch.

2A) able to record a loop of 2 bars by foot switch and this loop can be turned off later with the same foot switch.

OR

2B) play a recorded loop that is triggered on and off with a foot switch.

i saw an interesting idea of putting a old qwerty keyboard on the floor and using that as a foot switch. heh. good and cheap.

anw, can Ableton live do the above? so far it seems like the best bet.

can anyone confirm before i take the plunge?

CHEERS!

Mainstage - included in Logic Studio from Apple.

Not great if you've got a tight budget though.

It can do what you've described and much, much more. Also comes with a looper plugin/ several new virtual amps and stompboxes and also a Convolution reverb plugin unit and a delay designer for freaky delay efx.

You could use any MIDI foot controller to tweak/toggle ALL parameters within Mainstage including real-time modulation using expression pedals.
If you currently own a multi-EFX processor ie. GT10 etc. with MIDI out, use it!

An alternative would be to head down to http://www.dontcrack.com/freeware/software.php/id/7037/audio/Plug-ins/

Look for a program to host your plugins. Mac/PC
Also a looper plugin.

Best.
