Help with semi hollows!

Hey all, i'm a beginner guitarist, been playing slightly more than a year already. I currently own a Maestro ED-1 and a Fender Squier Bullet Stratocaster. I'm looking to venture into jazz-blues playing fields and i'm looking for a semi-hollow guitar, any recommendations please? And also the place to buy, thanks!

do you have anything specific in mind?
for eg, make, model, pickups config, etc.

Uhh, either Peerless (korean brand), Epiphone, Ibanez or Rally? I've heard The Epi Dot is a good guitar, how much is it, and where to buy it? Ibanez Artcore series was also recommended but specifically which ones are good? Gibsons are wayyy outta the price range. I would prefer humbuckers, thanks. :D

i have seen rally but never tried it before
if that is my budget, i wont be able to afford peerless.. hehe
epiphone, dot, sheraton, lucille, japan, korean, china, take your pick
there is also this thing about older/matured wood tone that captures me
ibanez artcores, beautiful, affordable, makes one act/feel/look like a pro for the price

i love both of them epi & ibz, cant live with them all & cant live without having one of them around
as only the new ones are readily available at guitar stores which imo have different kind of vibe/mojo to it
irregardless of brand/model/pickup upgrades just treat them well, & they'll perform & you have to also take body & neck size into account as they are different from stratocasters

:P

@eieio: Hahah, i wouldn't, too. But it sounds nice, plus, a friend is offering it around 700 with a case? So i'm considering. Is the sound good?
@Jem007: Sorry mate! I'm interested but the guitar's out my max budget of 700. Sorry!
@subversion: Thanks! :D

Peerless Songbird.
Peerless built all the Epiphone Casinos, Joe Pass, etc,
for over 20 years before Epiphone built their own factory in China in 2002

if you're into epiphone casino, thinline with p90's instead of normal humbucker pickups
it does sound like a good deal, if you're not buying it i'll take over.. hehe ok here is an eg. + cube30

:)

But aren't Peerless still produicng it? Uhh, what's + cube30? Hmm, means the guitar is good eh? Hahaha, sorry, i guess i'll be taking it then, thanks for the help though!

To all: Are these good specs?

Body : Spruce Top,
Flame Maple Back & Sides
Neck : Maple
Fingerboard : Rosewood
Pickup : 2H(covered)
Controls : 2V,2T,3Way Toggle
Bridge : Tune-0-Matic with
Trapezoid Tailpiece
Frets & Scale : 20F, 24.75"
Machine Head : Diecasting
Hardware : Gold
Color : TBL, IV

regardless of the specs, we need to try a guitar out & hear if it has anything in store for us tone-wise; same goes for the specs...

hey sub.. maybe we can have an ibanez, epiphone & peerless entry level friendly shootouts? hehe

best person to ask abt the songbird is your friend since he owns it, then come back here for 2nd, 3rd unbiased opinions?

the next best person to ask is jem007(can go try out what he has to offer?) who knows it might help in your decision making?

the very last person to ask is me.. no special offer.. haha just kidding

;)

ps. roland cube 30 is a small practice guitar amp

well dudelove, subversion may be right in his own right but to each his own
to those very ngiao one that is not even specific specs to begin with,
how about we take it for reference as a guide, can? lol

too many people make decisions based on brand name preferences- i was once like this 8-) we tend to be inclined towards a certain recommendation or even be swayed by our idols knowing too well what he fancies may not be our cup of tea. trying instruments in person & choosing accordingly, regardless of the brand name, should be the practice.

true true.. ok we shall stop dreaming for that dream gibson.. we shall not give in.. kekeke

on a lighter note, it is very encouraging to see more of our 'next gen proteges' are into 'old fashioned' guitars

marketing aside we like to 'blame' some of them like charlie, wes & django etc. who may have directly or indirectly got us into addiction...
