hi guys,

noob here needs help with snare drum. some of the tension rods are beginning to rust and i was thinking of doing something about it before it gets worse. is there anything i can do about it? i looked up previous posts abit and i got to know about the following stuffs:
Brasso
WD40
Autosol
Im not sure where can i get these stuffs and how much are they. can anyone help me with this or otherwise recommend other methods?

Ben

You can get Autosol at Fairprice under the car section. If im not wrong, it should be around $4++ for a tube. You could also get them at Homefix but it's slightly pricer. It comes in a tube in a paste form.
If the rust is very bad, why dont you purchase a new set of tension rods? You can get gibraltar tension rods at ranking but it might probably cost you at least 20-30++ for a 10-lug drum tom and bottom? Go down to ranking to check the prices!

If Fairprice doesn't carry the above, HomeDIY will.
I personally use Autosol.
I second what Namrehs suggested. If the rod is really badly rusted, just a get new ones from shops like Music Themes or Ranking.

Or u can soak ur tension rods in white vinegar..the rust will start to float on top. This is a good method for vintage kits. I read on Pearl Drummers forum.
