Help with buying electric guitar

Hey, I have been playing classical guitar for about 2 years and I wanted to try an electric now. Ibanez looks cool to me ^^. Any ibanez guitars to recommend for beginners? If not, can recommend any other brands? Cause I am totally unfamiliar with pickups and the other electric guitar tech.

LTD could be the next best thing. A friend of mine bought an LTD package at Davis for around 300 plus and it sounds alright imo. It sounds even better when he plug it in to a bigger amp in the jamming studio... Not sure if the package is still available though.. I think if you're gonna get an electric guitar, I suggest you invest a little bit more on the amp as well..

The LTD's would be the 10 series. The lowest of the lowest, and IMHO. The lower grade LTD's are really very very good, but is the 300-500 for guitar ALONE? Or inclusive of everything?

lemonade93 - yeah man.. the guitar is not that bad actually, just that it is a bit heavy literally. It's like you're playing a les paul or something lol. Niways, the guitar comes in a package of amps, cables etc. Not sure if Davies still sells that guitar now. I also agree Madwerewolfboy in recommending guitar packages at citymusic. Saw the package last week and I really thought it is a good deal for beginners.

Haha, might get slammed for it but I loved my epiphone spec ii + vox amp.
It's a great pity I'm selling it off cos I need cash, still new lehh x.x
Anyways, it was enjoyable play for a beginner like me. Epiphone spec ii is like a les paul on diet lol. Sexy look :x

For $500 i think that the Ibanez RG321MH is probably the most suitable. Why? The fixed bridge eliminates all the tuning hassles that other trem-equipped guitars bring. The stock pickups are ok, and the neck is IMHO one of the most playable out there. Ibanez overrated, boring and ugly? I don't think the millions of Ibanez owners out there, myself included, will verify that. But to each his own. i don't know the reasons why you find them overrated, boring and ugly, but i for 1 love Ibanezes. I find them to be well suited for beginners with a larger budget (around $500-900), the SA260FM and the aforementioned guitar included.

That being said, there are definitely more value-for-money guitars out there for the price, Smash guitars come to mind as do Corts and Washburns. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to search out that guitar that satisfies as many of the conditions they set. Recommendations can only get you so far. I for one did more than a year's worth of research here on SOFT as well as at the guitar shops, trying to find that one guitar that would meet my needs. I can safely say that i have not been disappointed. Take your time and enjoy sampling the myriad of choices out there. You won't regret it.

$300 - $500, i would suggest the electric guitar package at city music. they are really good for the price!

Agreed. The Craftsman guitar packages at City Music offer excellent value, and the amps provided in the package are awesome. The guitars are pretty good, too.

I find that many Ibanez guitars (expensive ones included) sound rather bland...

A lot of people slam Epiphones but from my experience, they are quite inconsistent with quality. Keyword: inconsistent. So there are good Epiphones too. :) Just that there are brands offering better value these days.
