i recently bought a second hand takamine d series guitar , i forgot the model and it all looks the same so i don't know how to find but nevermind about that.. i think the strings are beginning to rust or smth. what type of strings do i change it to? and its acoustic/electric, but i don't have an amp, should i buy one, if so what type of amp, and around how much does it cost. thanks.

You don't need an amp unless you're gonna play live or you want it louder . I use Earnie ball 80/20 bronze strings .011 - .52's . Those work for my Taylor very well but to each his own . You can try those or get any strings suited for acoustic guitars .

If you haven't gotten your guitar setup for a different gauge of strings, stick to gauge 10-52 strings, because stock acoustic guitars are usually default setup for 10s. Both acoustic-electric and acoustic use the same strings, which are acoustic strings (phosphor bronze, etc).

A good start would be phosphor bronze strings because they are bright yet warm at the same time. Well-balanced if you ask me, and my main choice of alloy because they are bright but not too bright.

The amp should be an acoustic guitar amplifier, designed for acoustic guitar. You can plug an acoustic-electric into an electric guitar amplifier but it will sound electric and not acoustic.
