Which Guitar Should i Get?

im planning to get a new electric but i cant seem on what to decide on. I have mainly decided on two guitars..

1. Ibanez gax30
http://www.ibanez.com/EG/guitar.aspx?m=GAX30
OR
2. Cort X5
http://http://www.cort.co.kr/english/products/common/view.asp?product_id=150

the cort is a HSH guitar with coil tap which makes it very versatile. it is basically the same as the x6 but without the floyd rose tremolo.

Sound Sample of x6
http://http://www.cort.co.kr/english/products/common/popSound.asp?gubun=S&product_id=131

However, from what i read online the gax30 also seems very versatile. However, the gax30 has double humbuckers while the cort is HSH. So what i would like to knw is if the cort has the tone i want it to have. Most of the bands i listen to use les pauls and SGs with two humbuckers. i like punk and just abit of metalcore but i dont really do heavy stuff. my fav bands are avenged sevenfold, saosin, green day,my chemical romance, muse and the red hot chili peppers.

So what i like to know is which is a guitar for me if i like to have nice distortion and nice clean tones.Would a HH guitar be better or a HSH with coil tap such that i can also play single coils.
I plan on buying either with a roland cube 20x.

Roland Cube 20x

Does this amp give me the tones i want? Should i get a HH or a HSH (and juz use the bridge position) ? Is it better to get to play both pickups or will i end up juz using the bridge?

Pls tell about your expericences and views if you own or have played any for it. thanks!

My old guitarist used to use the GAX....Its not bad lah...He played pretty much what you played and I think it was ok

You are comparing two different bodies..
First of all, soundwise.. you'll get more kind of sound from X5.. but I would not say which one is better.. you might find Ibanez has a better sound.. that all the different sounds available in Cort.. Still, entry-level guitars do not usually have a unique or distinct sound.. You might wanna consider saving up on guitar and buy some efxs instead.. This probably give you the best sound possible(esp those Digitalise Amp Modeling ZOOM/POD/Vox)
Guitar-wise I think you should choose the one that you're more comfortable with, save up a bit more and get a decent fixed bridge if you're not whammy enthusiast..(*Note:Personal Opinion.. I just happen not to like that kind of bridge)
How about Cort EVL? Or the Schecter Package from G77?
Try Buy/Sell section.. probably get you a better gear with the same budget..
Verdict: If I really need to choose I'll choose CortX5.. cos I dislike the body of GAX LoL -- invest in your efxs and amplifier ofcourse.. Roland cube is a good choice.. got some efxs to play with.. How bout buy smaller cube and pump up your guitar instead?!?(Roland Amps are pretty full.. meaning 15W you get 15W unlike some other brand, even (lower-end)Ibanez, you dun get 15W from 15W amps.. I dunno man.. hahax..(Im blur after midnight.. all the best.. all this is again my own opinion)

Could u tell me more abt the scheter pack. Is the one with a omen-6? i juz thought tat guitar might a bit too heavy in sound and geared more towards metal. Anyway,i thought of getting the ds1 or ds2 or maybe even the danelectro FABs but i thought since the cube came with so much kinds of distortion (with 1 mode "based on the ds1") and effects i juz thought i will buy the amp then see hw. What do u think? Are pedals really needed? well,of coz their nice to have bt kinda on budget.

And the links should be fine now.

Hmm, it's Omen Extreme I think pretty good deal =D
"avenged sevenfold, saosin, green day,my chemical romance, muse and the red hot chili peppers" I dun think it's too heavy for those right?! Anyway.. Distortion to me.. Pickup and effects made more of the sound than the guitar.. XD
It depends on your usage.. if you like to go out and play you probably wont benefit much from The 'cube' even though it's great :) -- If you're home always, I suppose Cube will be basic enough to cover all the bands you listed..
Pedals are ofcourse good-to-have but from your influences you wont get to use it that much.. So my suggestion would be.. get a guitar(GAX/X5 up to you or maybe some other things) and a cube if your staying home.. If you are going around then.. I suppose you get some extra $$$ for efxs.. hehe (I love the CUBE!)

Guitar-wise.. You need to search for what you like to play ynow.. including body type, wood type, fret type, bridge type, scale.. lots more.. Cort is a good budget guitar.. you get more from the same price.. get EVL it looks so nice~ Schecter also good! and Omen Extreme at 399+an amp is really a steal.. LTD is also not bad.. haha.. Im not helpin you at all right??

OKie okie.. I'll be frank then =D.. Entry-level guitars do not 'qualitatively' differ much in sound.. So I asked you to look at its structure instead.. the kind that you like to play on.. And to improve that sound you can change PU or use efxs.

Concluding, between any of your choices.. choose the one that you'll like.. and can play with comfortably..(Or even the kind that you'll like to use in the future) the tone you want can be create by the power of Amp+Efx+Pups, and not much of guitar yaa..

the cube 20x is a great idea, and even as an ibanez lover myself, don't get the GAX, the gio range isn't impressive.
however i've heard some cgood things about the cort so i'd say that's a better idea(:

is the package with the omen 6 extreme or with the omen 6
Coz 399 seems abit unlikely for something with a mahogany body and maple top in the omen 6 extreme..n wats the amps tat comes with it?

I own an excellent Ibanez Gio myself but I'm not sure if it will suit you since it has a HSS pickup configuration. Moreover, a good Gio is quite rare (a good Ibanez, for that matter, nowadays). For the safe side, go with the Cort, but of course make sure you play it thoroughly before you decide.

The Craftsman guitars at City Music are pretty good too, but they kinda lack in tone, but they're well-made for the price and a change in pickups down the road should do wonders.

get a low end rg, perhaps a rg3xx
and amp get a roland cube 20x if u need effects or a toneblaster 25r
all this are value for money man

juz went to swee lee and guitar77. tried the gax30 and found the neck a little too thick but they do not seem to have the x5. Also, went to g77. the scheter looks quite old and worn out but they have another superstrat-style pot guitar with two humbuckers. it is suposedly a mahogany body although it feels quite light. they selling for for $350 with strap,bag,pick,etc... What do u guys think of it? i nvr really heard or the brand pot b4...

Btw, wats a cheap ibanez rg? i considered the rg321 bt kinda ex...

M200.jpg

out of all the budget-friendly CORTs in the market, i find the M200 (pic) most impressive in terms of tone & feel. the neck profile is akin to the Ibanez GAX models but the differentiated finishing makes it more appealing somewhat.

you should also consider Ibanez's RG321 if you are into fixed bridge guitars. you can always install a push/pull switch to activate a single coil voicing.

Haha,i actually decided on the m200 even b4 reading that post.the x5 had a hum when i tried it. So when at swee lee i decided to try the m200. it really looks good and no photo can really show how it good really looks. I also found the neck perfect for me and it had the tone that i wanted.
