Help me out with OD Pedals

Well I finally got the Hi Octane of my hands. Now I am left with a super clean fender deluxe reverb. It needs an OD pedal to push at low volumes.Basically here are my choices

1. Fatal Tube
2. SD1
3. Bad Monkey
4. Tube Screamer TS7 or TS808 Reissue

Any comments on the above with regards to pricing, performance and ability?

Well, for more versatility, get the Tubescreamer DX, then send it to Randolf to mod it.

His mod for that adds an additional 4 tones to it, for a grand total of 8 tones possible from this little green box.

He also cleans up the treble/bass cut when on bypass, restores the treble/bass cut when on and so on so forth. Plus he tweaks it to your preferences.

I have 1. :)

Hi

Wat kind of music do u play?
I would suggest Fatal Tube...in terms of price & versatility.
U can play blues to metal wif Fatal Tube. More knobs ..with a gain & drive knob , u can dial a variety of tones. For eg..blues - 0-Gain, 3-5 Drive..something like dat.
I've A/B Fatal-Tube & GT-2 side by side....IMHO,Fatal tube comes out top.

Just my two cents

For crunch I am looking at ACDC, Sabbath rock tones tones.

For clean i am looking for Clapton "Wonderful Tonight" tones.

I am currently playing a strat with Lace sensors.

With regards to the pedal, i am looking to buy it second hand form luther's. Recently saw someone selling a Fatal Tube at $120.Is that ex?How much does it cost at Davis?

As for the suggestion of modding, i am actually looking for stock sounds instead partly also to save costs.

So far no one has said anything about the bad monkey and the SD1. Are they undesirable?

No, they are not undesirebale, just that the other pedals are more versatile.

Get the Fatal Tube if you want versatile. ;)

Or a Tech21 Sansamp TRI OD, TRI AC or GT2

Well i am using a GT2 but it belong to a friend so i got to give it back. I find that its a Jack of all trades It also muches batteries. Its good for emulation.

So is $120 a good deal for a Fatal tube?

heehee, me too, anw if you like the GT2, you'd like the behringer GDI21, well at least i think u might, very similar, but slightly weaker distortion wise

Since it belongs to my friend, i can always errr... borrow it for an extended period. But that being said, i would like to have my own OD so i have something to bring to the table and share.

haha, mine i borrow for abt 4 months plus already, kenna hounded already, better faster return, if not i lose a friend.... anw i getting cash tomorrow, prob gonna pick up the zoom g2

Davis retails at $130...brand new.

Reverend Drivetrain II & Fulltone Fulldrive II

Sorry to hijack the trade..

Anybody tried or own these 2 pedals:-

1)Reverend Drivetrain II
2) Fulltone Fulldrive II

Any reviews?

The reverend drivetrain II is milder than the FD2

The fd2 is more versatile and it's performance is more suitable with tube amp.

All imho and really really cut short. There are plenty of reviews for these 2 pedals around and it can be taken with many pinches of salt, since both have been around quite a number of years already and considering the drivetrain been long discontinued.

While some might say a modded TS might be better so and so, imho, if you have the chance to try out the rest, go ahead try and get the one that you want. Accept no substitute....

My Fav. overdrive is my modded MT2 by Randolf ..
The Seeing-Eye kinda gives it a tube like effect ... ~
love the rise and decay of the drive with each cord and note ... ~
play soft ... kinda clean .. den hit hard the drive kicks in ...

and with all the eq settings of the mt2 ...
it's just super versatile ... ~!

Hotcakes r nice... Goes from clean boost to lite od to in ur face ballsy od. Works well with singles as well, set it low gain n play with the settings, u get a clean tone thats fuller r round.

I looking at the bad monkey at the moment:), but have gd experience wif the sd-1. But its more for a boost for my expandora for my usage... Didnt wanna pay $200+ for a boost pedal, when the stock sd-1 does it for me.

Oh yah, get a voodoo lab sparkle drive... Thats super cool n warm man... luv it
