Help! EMG 81 Neck sounds distorted, fuzzy and annoying

Hi guys,

I bought a new Ibanez last month. Recently, I've noticed that the EMG 81 pickup on my neck sounds really distorted and fuzzy whenever I pick a single string when it's on the clean channel.

Is it normal? This is the first time I'm using active pups hahah.

I'm playing through a Blackstar HT-5 amp if that helps
