Help! clicks

Hey,

I have a previous gen of iMac, i5 quad core, 12gb ram and 1tb hard disk. running on logic.

Whenever I'm monitoring on my logic, I do hear intermittent clicks coming from my headphone which is connected to my fw 400 saffire pro 14 focusrite. I didn't notice this until I upgraded to OS Lion. Btw I'm using a moshi converter 800-400 to hook it up to the system.

I've tried ways and ways to trouble shoot. PRoblems still exists. Changed the 800-400 converters, reinstalling drivers resetting buffer size in logic. Nth works!

NEed some help here!

Not a very big fan of clicks.

Could it be Logic has not yet a compatible driver update for Lion OS?

Have u tried to run it on 400-400 instead?

Sorry, not exactly providing u a solution. Hope u find one soon. CHeers!

iMac is on fw800 only. so i believe die die need one 800-400. hmmm.

I was thinking about that too but after searching online, I dnt find anyone with the same device, same problem as me.

Called up apple about this, they informed that the drivers for logic are updated for lion. Saffire pro 14 also supports to lion with the driver.

Funny. Im starting to think this is an isolated problem. Maybe smith's wrong with my fw port or the interface itself.

AHHH. sian.

How was the application like? I mean were u doing a fresh new recording or converting an already recorded material or someone passed u file to edit? Cld it also be the sampling rate and bit rate different? E.g. 16bit/44.1khz, 24bit/44.1khz, 24bit/48khz or any other higher combinations?

Yup, I'm doing a fresh new recording. sometimes when its not playing anything there're clicks too. Its driving me nuts. haha.

I dnt think logic can set the sampling rate internally? correct me if I'm wrong. haha

I usually set it on my saffire pro.

Yeah I'm using bus power.

I started noticing it ever since I updated to Lion.

I tried searching online, no such previous incidents.

Suay.

1) welcome to soft. and welcome me back to soft for a while since I realised your problems have not been solved.
2) stop panicking.
3) google relevant problems :
http://www.focusrite.com/answerbase/en/article.php?id=1007
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4426156
4) update drivers, try all buffer sizes , try with power supply , try go back to the earlier animal before lion (i'm not a mac user)
5) disconnect from the internet / disable wireless LAN and try see if problem persists.
6) try using your onboard mac's soundcard instead of your audio interface to playback see if glitches happen.
7) try borrow a fw audio interface from a friend and see if clicks still happen.
8) try your audio interface on a friend's mac/pc and see if clicks happen.
9) replace your audio interface if 5,6 has no problems.
10) check your headphone jack connection, try other earphones.
11) if all the above doesn't work, start panicking.

heh, you sure you tried/tested everything? or lazy? if not, answer my (your) following questions.

4) you reverted back to the old os?
5) you tried this as well?
6) your onboard sound card still glitches = your OS/computer problem.
7) your audio interface problem. what audio interface is your friend using? if your friend's AIF has problems, then it's your OS/Computer.
8) what was your friend using? mac or PC? what DAW? if clicks happen means your AIF has problems. if not, means your OS/Computer. if your focusrite works well, then it's your own OS/computer. try a different DAW ? garage band also? (then again itunes also , so it's OS problem)
9) replace audio interface from where you bought from if still under warranty. test it at dealer shop where you bought from.
10) check headphone jack connection? checked using other earphones? checked the rear outputs TRS ? (if ok, then it's your headphone jack problem)

*your OS/computer also includes the "firewire cable".

because if you tried all and finally all those don't work, you may have proven that your mac/firewire cable/audio interface/luck sucks. change a whole new set.
