Early this year, there was a documentary on unknown metal scenes around the world during the local movie festival. I wonder if anyone watched it. They interviewed the more prominent bands like Sepultura, Salem, Orphaned Land, Sigh, X-Japan and also the smaller bands from countries like Indonesia and India[I realize I cannot remember any of their names].

I believe metal music in Asia has more significant roles to play than in a country like USA. People play metal music in Asia for a purpose. For example, the Indonesian band was quite sick of the way of life in their homeland and music was their only way of expression. And if I didn't remember wrongly, some of them were political activists. Another good example would be Orphaned Land. If you're a fan of Orphaned Land, you would realize that their music unites Judaism, Christianity and Islam as one big religion[Mabool was fantastic] and they put it clearly in the documentary that they wanted people to stop killing each other in the Middle East and embrace each other in the presence of one God. I mean, the message is sure well-intended and it's good to actually see that metal music is trying to promote peace and harmony.

I believe in Iraq, it's probably the same thing. Alas, the power of music.

I believe one of the biggest bands in Indonesia right now is Burgerkill. But look past the name cause this band has opened up for The Black Dahlia Murder before and the stage they were on looked like something out of Wacken. Haha but it was in Bandung.

Eh, Melechesh today doesn't hail from Israel. Haha, none of their members reside in Israel today although they started off in Israel and most of them live in the Netherlands. But! They're AWESOME. \m/ I love Melechesh.
