Hey, I was just wondering...

The Gibby LP Studio I'm getting is a pretty heavy guitar, so what muscles should I train in order to play with it? People complain of backpain, so I suppose back muscles should be one of them?

My current strength (based on quantity of exercises I can do) is...
Push - Ups: 150
Pull - Ups: 8
Sit - Ups: 200
...If got no time limit.

My NAPFA Test results are...
SILVER, 27/30 Points.
Sit - Ups (1 min) 49
Sit & Reach: 46cm
Inclined Pull Ups (1 min) 45
Shuttle Run: 10.2 secs
Standing Broad Jump: 2.21m
2.4 km... 14.24mins :p Slow sia...

Is that okay?

are you fat?

if yes, you cant use an LP..go to hell! kiddin bro!
its juz a matter of getting used to..use the guitar more often..

any plans for giggin?

Dude, it not that heavy that you have to train up to play it. I guess the backpain is due to long playing time. Just like when you carry a bag, even if its not that heavy, you will still feel strained after carrying it for some time.

0.o

U serious?? sounds like we are a panel of IPPT fitness trainers! lol

IMO i just get a lighter guitar then. (:
it's wad suit you / u're comfortable with it.
after all, you control the guitar, not the other way ard. (:

Well, I was using the guitar for weights and I could do like 50+ before I went to reserve the guitar... I was like holding the neck and and lifting the guitar up and down :p

if you are going to gig, you'll have to get used the weight eventually.

alternatively, you can practice sitting down if you are tired standing up :)

sorry never played an LP b4, but is it that heavy? If you really wanna train, back and shoulder muscles maybe??? Pull-ups are for you then....

It's like 2 - 4kg... And pull - ups I can do 8 - 10 depending on my mood (usually 8 or 9...)

Just wondering since it's bigger than weights (even though weights are heavier)

this is the first time that i see a thread regarding muscles and carrying a guitar. haha.
my solid lp copy is real heavy, i guess it's around 7kg.
i dont need to do pull ups or push ups to do the Trohmania with that.
it's all abt getting use to your guitar.
what is it abt man ?!
if u can do pull ups, i'm sure a Gibson LP isnt a burden to your back. isnt it ?
if u're really worried, get waist support. :D

i'm sorry, but this kind of thread shouldnt have existed especially when u provide specific information of ur 2.4km running time..lolz..

ok..i hav an lp..my only lp actually..yes,it's heavy..especially when u play for long hours..at first,it's worse..and so,trying to adapt to it is much more important than increasing ur number of pushups..It doesnt matter if u're standing or sitting, coz u'll get tired with both..When u're standing,ur back hurts..when u're sitting,ur leg dat's carrying it would be numb..It's juz the matter of getting used to it..u dun hav to actually get a gold medal for ur napfa test to play an lp..

dude, i know u hav the rights to post 'anything' about guitars especially in the rookie corner, but if u carry on with ur 'way-worse-than-rookie' questions again,i tell u..ppl in soft will remember u..'silenscer'..no one would be bothered to answer ur questions again..how bout getting a more personal fren than asking the whole singapore does ur napha test tally with the strength to carry an lp?

Peace!

yea, thanks to haz_flow bro.
i was trying to be more friendly & nice.
i find it incredibly amusing abt training to carry a guitar ?!
i dont think Steve Vai does 200 pull ups, 200 push ups, run 10minutes for 2.4km, do 200 sit ups, 200 jumping-jacks and etc. just to make sure he has enough strength to carry his EvoII !!
phew.

if we need to workout to play guitar, every guitarists is going to be FIT-ZAI !
