Hi guys,

I am brand new in this home studio world. Just started checking different gear, reading some of your great posts before buying anything. The only thing I have just now is my Mac computer and a basic external sound card (M-Audio). I play several instruments, and kind of familiar with garageband.

About headphones, I've been recommended the following ones, but what do you think about it? I put the price here, as I live now in HK, but I'll be moving to SG in one month.

Let me know your thoughts.

Sony MDR 7506- $162
Sony MDR 7510- $130
Sennheiser HD 280- $120
CAD MH310- $95

Based on quality/price, people recommended me the CAD, the Sony ones are bit over my budget. Do you think is it worthy to buy in in HK, or I can get similar ones in SG or better models at a reasonable price?

About monitors, same story. I've been told the M-AUDIO BX5a are great monitors at around $350. I read other posts about the Mackies or the KRK rokit 5s, not sure about prices.

Microphones, people told me to get a condenser and suggested me and of the following ones, that I can get in SG at the following price:

1) CAD Trion8000 @ S$570.00 Nett ( include a K&M popfilter & stand with boom)

2) CAD Trion6000 @ S$350.00 Nett ( include a K&M pop filter, 20ft XLR cable & K&M stand with boom)

I make my own music, a bit of everything, but mainly jazz/pop fusion.

Any suggestions? Your help would be really appreciated.

My budget for everything (even another sound card and maybe a mixer) would be around 800-1000$,

Thanks

Tony
