Has your guitar string ever snapped by itself?

last year.......
during the 7th lunar month...
my guitar strings suddenly snapped by themselves....at around 1am...
and there was this pungent smell in my room.... :?

*i bought my guitar 2 months ago from today

scary! ive snapped 0.08s on my intonated to 0.09 tele, and broke a slightly rusted 0.10 high e when bending on the 20th fret *max number of frets on guitars owned is 21 :D*

When I had my kapok guitar last time. All was quiet for a moment in my nice and cosy air conditioned toom until suddenly "pop"....scared the hell outta me

and I also don't know , when I had my guitars last time , my D string always snapped first followed by the rest.

Only happened once, on my Ibanez S370, now retired. G string came off, apparently because i didn't clamp it tightly enough, so it just pulled out while on the stand one night. It didn't freak me out, it just pissed me off a lot

bass strings are strong.. I carried a bass by the string b4
no problems.. but of course it went to D#

my classical strings burst by itself. i went to shower and come back to my room den one of the string snapped. Another time i brought my classical to school, den when i opened the bag, one snapped string there.

However for my elecs, i seem to break my strings when i'm plucking. Yes!!! haha

then maybe you've tuned the guitar too sharp or the intonation is just plain screwy. for the elec its prob cos you're not anchoring your right hand when playing

Me?

my guit strings dun break by itself. its either wen i bend it too harsh or i tightened it too much.

i guess it all depends on the string gauge as well as tension level.

same thing happened to me, i suspect that its due to moisture on the strings after playing and the case itself not letting the strings air..

opened my case to find the d string kapok twice liao...

classical only though... my acoustic and electric never happened b4.
