Has any musician in singapore studied at berklee?

that day at tiet studio came across a band , all ladies.. few of them are berklee grads..quite a lot..in fact heard that SOMA is opened by berklee grads...

yes, alot of singaporeans have been to berklee. There are a few instructors at SOMA that grad. from berklee too. How they finance themsleves? Take loan, or take scholarships(berklee itself offers lots of scholarships).

really ah? I was thinking of doing an online degree...
its not worth it, their online courses are crap.. learn urself from the internet is cheap and free. Wanna take their courses go to the school itself haha..

I'm not sure what you define as great. Neither can I answer your second question as I am not a Berklee graduate.

I enjoyed her set in any case.

One thing interesting I thought was that she was adjusting her keyboards volume and eq, and she asked the soundman for a specific frequency to be boosted. First time I ever seen anyone do that doing a soundcheck.

By right, the sound engineer (which i suppose is monitoring from below or away from the stage) is at a better monitoring position as compared to the musician who is on the stage him/herself. What you hear on stage might be different from the sound where the audience is at. That is, to say if there is no separate live mix between the musicians' monitors and the audience's PA. This is one of the reasons why many (if not most) do not tell the audio engineer what to do apart from giving their feedback (to which the engineer will react accordingly).

Regarding Berklee, I personally think that taking the online courses are kinda useless imo. The main draw of Berklee is the learning environment where you get to meet musicians from all over the place. That would spur you to improve because of the competition/environment. Berklee is all about nurturing.

I agree, but in that case, I think Ruth had a better ear for her own sound. (From where I was at, anyway.)

that's the lady and her band that i was talking about earlier..she a good player and singer, so was her 'lead' keyboardist..

If I'm not wrong the band's called Walking On Water, which she fronts. They played at the Esplanade Lunchbox a while ago. Couldn't catch it though.

I guess the difference between having studied for a music-related degree and not gives you more knowledge of the technicality.

Both Ruth (keys) and Audrey (drums) studied at Berklee. Ruth did sound engineering rather than keyboards (although I think she has her L.Mus in piano).

I know of lots of others who have been to Berklee. I think you need to either go on a scholarship or find funding from a bank or parent or generous relative.

Question: what do you want to study and is berklee the best place to learn it?

oh that singapore idol guy? iskandar ismail or sumthing lidat? always playing e piano one, hes also from berklee
