Hey guys, Some help here. Was thinking of getting a guitar with cutaway. Any recommendations? :) Please indicate price too. Oh and one question, do guitars with cutaway necessarily mean that it must have a plugin? Thanks in advance =D

Cutaway gives u an advantage to let u access to higher frets. Disadvantage is affect the resonance a little...

If u say plugin, that is another thing. It doesnt necessary need to be guitars with cutaway to have preamps...

If you do not need the frets from 14 and on, just get the one without cut away.

If you need, then get the cutaway version, and ensure there the pickup.

Some people say that cutaways affect the tone. I think it does but the effect is very subtle. I also hear that on very well-made guitars, the effect is barely noticeable.

Higher frets are more accessible as the others have said. Try playing the higher notes on a dreadnought without cutaway. Very difficult.

Hmm.. If your budget allows it, u can get a Gibson SG standard. Excellent guitar. It has 2 cutaways allowing easy access to the other frets.

u don't need a plug in... u can use ur external stomp boxes :D

a cut away? u mean a double cut away?
SG gibson is good around 900-950$, i forgot which SG type
Ibanez PGM is also good new around $900 ... 2nd product around $400-450 it depends on the condition

oh yeah... if u can get a 2nd Gibson LesPaul DC (Double cutaway) ... it's a nice guitar... it's discontinued product ...

Just go down to the various guitar stores that sells acoustics and I'm sure you will find something that suits you for your sound, looks, playability, personal ability and price.

The various Maestro stores, Davies at Peninsula, Luther at Excelsior, Yamaha, Cinemax at Paradiz, City Music at Peace centre... Basically just go walk walk music row and find what you want. Good exercise, learning curve and you get to meet and see people!

haha bro, plug in and cutaway are two different things, its like i want a emg pickup and a whammy bridge. there are guitars with cutaways and with or without plugins and there are guitars with plugins, with or without cutaway.

in fact as maestro, for some(or all?) models, u can choose if you want cutaway and plugin for a specific model.

yeap as breen said, just dedicate 1 day perhaps, just go all guitar shops u know and try out the guitars, though to me, davis is the worse place to try guitars. lol

Yes, it's kinda true that most guitar with cut away comes with pre-installed pickups.. just my observation.. but there're exceptions, just not that common

All of the maestros don't have cutaways =( ok, maybe that's cause I havn't asked. Haha. I personally prefer maestro =D but Like 99% of the cutaways guitars seem to have a plugin. Any suggestions?

After all, it still depends on the individual. Well, I prefer to get guitars with cutaway though i seldom play it above 12th fret. Who knows maybe a solo of da song needed to be played above 12th fret...

why all guitarist must go beyond the 12th fret ah? Why must always solo solo solo wan. Guitar also can rhythm right? Can also solo at the low low or middle part of neck what.

Hehe.

I tell you, Van Halen can wipe anyone's 24 fretter just by playing rhythm. Yeah I guess he does have occasional forays into the upper registers =]
