Guys, im doing a survey for school relating to guitar preference so please help me answer the following questions with your preference.

1)how old are you

2)if you own any electric guitar, what model is it?

3)If you wanna buy an electric guitar in the short term(aka not a dream guitar) what would be the top 3 models(and brands) you would want to in order?

4)what would be a preferable range you would pay for it?(no lame prices like eg. $50-100)

5)do you find local guitar shops prices slightly too high?

6)would you rather actually pay for a quality expensive guitar or a cheap one?

1) I'm 20!!!

2) I own a SX Strat Copy (The Combo basic crap set) and a Proud Owner of a Rally GL-300 Trans Amber

3) In a Short term, a PRS SE Tremonti, A Epiphone ProFX (The one with Floyd Special and Coil Tapping) and to refurbish my Strat with the Dimazio Pickguard set with PG's Injector set!!!

4) from $300 to $1000? (If i ever have that much $$$ that is...... T.T)

5) Yeap, as compaired to buying overseas for certain products.

6) Depending on the quality of the instrument. Price is secondary to a quality instrument. The Tone and the sound of the instrument plays the biggest role in your decision to buy a Guitar. So i guess Price don't really matter.

5) Yes. There are ridiculously cheap ones and there are ridiculously priced ones.
6) All depends on my comfort level with the guitar.

3) PRS Pre-Law Suit Single Cut, Fender Custom Shop Strat, Gibson LP Jr

4) 2-4k

5) Some specific shops yes. I've hardly ever bought a guitar off the shelf though, most of what I've owned is hard to find anyway.

6) Quality (if it is expensive then it is expensive), spend once, spend wisely and never have to spend again theory.

In general no, but there are a few exceptions

Depends on how much money I have, but if I did have money, quality expensive, or if I didn't, buy the cheap one and upgrade it with quality products when i DO get money

Ibanez RG 570 (Made in Japan) and a Schecter Damien FR-6 that's fitted with a Roland GK-3 MIDI pickup.

Parker Fly, Ibanez RG 1570, Ibanez RG 1520 G with the GK Midi pickup. Dream guitar: Parker Fly Midi guitar.

I haven't actually shopped in Singapore as yet (will be there soon) but on the web, compared to the prices in India, the Singapore local shops are much more expensive especially the bigger ones. Prices on www.svguitars.com seem to be similar to the India prices.

6)would you rather actually pay for a quality expensive guitar or a cheap one?

Pay more for an expensive guitar any day. Cheap ones don't last and you're never satisfied.

I usually don't buy guitars in the short term, hardly impulse buy. I only buy based on trying or plenty of research unless it's a custom guitar.
but i guess the top three now are.. a Suhr Custom, a Gibson Les Paul Goldtop R7 and a Fender 52' Butterscotch Blonde Tele RI.

Any price as long as I can afford it? If the price of the guitar at $5000 and I can justify that I'll derive more utility from buying it than $5000 worth of other stuff i would buy it.

In general yes, but there are some newer shops that have come in and fixed that issue.

Quality, definitely.

i'm malaysian. so no, they are definitely not slightly too high. they are !@£$% high.

depends. if its a project guitar, a cheap one. otherwise, i'd rather cry once and pay up for quality

Guitars I buy are never for a short term. I only get guitars if I think I need it (or crave it), or if it's a rare custom shop.
Top 3 are Ibanez J custom, PRS custom 24, Suhr modern series

That really depends on the price of the guitars I'm gearing towards and my budget. From the guitars stated above, maybe around 3-4k?

To a large extent, yes, but there are exceptions.
