First time restringing a lespaul..

While restringing the high E ( Thin? ) I insert the non ball end through the bridge ( using a lespaul with tune o matic ) and insert it through the top. I turn the wheel and suddenly the string snap at the bottom end near the ball. Wtf?

Did i do something wrong? Just bought this pack of d'addario strings and it snapped with the first string..

Please enlighten me !

Damn sian now.. i only restringed the 5th 4th and 3rd strings now.

I'm having a hybrid strings combo ! Lucky the old 6th string managed to salvage and restring it back.

Any picture on how to string it up at the tuning peg? ( Or is it called this way? )

maybe its the 'sharp' bridge... i have no probs at all so far for the past 5yrs wif my gibson. try not to having the strings close to the bridge wen u tighten the tune... i think like tat la...

The worse thing is to have an elixir snap on you while you're changing it man...

Happened to me twice before on my acoustic. I was re-stringing the high-E and it snapped at the bridge, and hit me a few mm below my right eye. It freaked me out, thought I'd be blind. Learned not to "look" while tuning since then.

Second time, i was restrining my electric guitar. I strung it too tight. Didn't have a tuner then, i was tuning by ear. heh! The high-E snapped at the tuner side and the tension caused the broken end to shoot back and injected itself a couple of mm into my picking hand, just below my wrist.

Hmm.

When stringing up I always make it a point to use both of ny hands to guide the string into the nut and bridge slots. Furthermore, I always give strings plenty of windings so that in the even that the strings snap, you can "salvage" the string (esp if it's snapped between the nut and the tuning peg) by twisting the ends together and soldering them.

Not recommended for the faint-of-heart and the soldering-inexperienced.

It's was particularly funny when my friend snapped the G-string three times in a row.

New set > snap
New g-string > snap
Another new g-string > snap!

Hmm.

Well considering that the G string has the highest tension-to-pitch rate compared to the other strings.. it's no wonder why G strings snap or go out of tune easier.

hmm... interesting!
Any pic to show the end result?
