Does anyone know where the good guitar shops are in Hong Kong? My sister is going there tomorrow!!! and i might get her to help me buy a guitar if its cheaper over there...i've done some searching and only found tom lee music shop......does anyone know any others? prefebly they have esp guitars for cheap? Thanks..this is really urgent so please help me ask your friends and ask them to ask their friends and so on plsplsplsplspls!!!!!!thanks.

If u r going to Tom Lee, try the one at Cameron road tsim sha tchui (TST), not sure abt the spelling, they had a big sale at Easter weekend. I should have bought my bass there, they have a much wider selection. There is a small tom lee at Causeway bay , a few doors away from Sogo. The wan chai branch is slightly bigger than the one at Causeway Bay.
There is a Parson music on the 9th floor of Time Squres, but nothing much there. Parson has branches in TST as well, but i've never been there.
There is Nelson Music at Mongkok, nelson road , near to a Chinese travel agency.
Tom Lee at Cameron road, is the biggest and carries the widest selection. It may not worth your time to go to the other shops. I was there for the winter and just returned not so long ago when the weather began to get warmer.

Thanks for your input, I found it very helpful. Did you manage to notice how much they charged for esp guitars and mesa boogie amps?

I'm sorry I dont know exactly, just have a feeling they were cheaper, maybe coz of the Easter sale. Tom Lee is just like we put davis, guitar77, sweelee, city music, yamaha and whatever under a single roof. Ask for a discount if u r getting a display unit and more discount if u can show them minor scratches on the display unit. U can just pick up anything in the shop and try.

I was just on their website http://www.tomlee.com/ which absolutely sucks.

There is no way to see the cost of instruments and gear - even if you sign up which I did and use the shopping cart, there is no way to add an item to the cart! It is the most pointless online experience ever! :)

Anyway, I hope to go to HK in next couple of weeks, so I will check out the store. Anyone know what is Cantonese for 'make good price, can?'

"low sai, pang di ler, ngor hoe yun lei ger"

"boss, cheaper lah, i come from afar"

that's what my mum would say but my dad always scold her for saying that. his reason, "the boss sure give you the lousy piece because you cant come back to exchange!"

i dunno if this helps

but this is for those going to thailand to buy gear

Peng mak mak !

means : too expensive

Hmmmm.... i bought my Rg from HK... got it at the causeway bay Tom Lee... all i can say is that the price is abt the same.... over there my Rg cost a 100 bucks less... so theres reall not that much diff in the priceing...

Mainly the effect pedals, and any good 7 stringers if they stock 'em. Or anything that you think it's worth taking note of hehehe.
