Hey hi there guys, just wanna know what is it meant by to sent your guitar for a full setup? What does it consist of actually and how much roughly will it cost? Hope u guys can help me out here with your wisdom. Thanks in advance.

Set up will involve adjusting the truss rod, pickup height and the Floyd Rose tremolo if you have one. If you change to a different gauge of strings, unstable Floyd Rose or when you want lower string action etc. Intonation will be adjusted at the bridge to lower the action. Setup will cost you from $40 to $100 plus depends on the amount of job needed. You can get your guitar setted up nicely if you bring it to the right person. My favorites are Beez and Mike. Do check them out.

hey ryanz tahnks alot man, u always been a good help around here.. appreciate it alotz...how to get hold of those guys u mentioned? Anyway what pickup u using for ur neck? hehe

U can make an appointment with beez on his mobile @ 97732633
His shop is in Katong (yea, the place with infinite amount of Katong laksa, Roxy square 2, level 1 something.

Or if the northwest is more convenient for you, pay Mike a visit. More info at: www.standardvalue.com.sg

I personally recommend Mike because my guitar's visited him very often for setups (I was getting adventurous with downtuning and thicker strings). Its a low-end Ibanez and although it was already a good guitar before, he made it play excellently, it actually plays better than a lot of higher-end guitars I've tried. Top-notch work, and he also explains along the way.

Basically, a full setup includes truss rod adjustment, intonation, action. Take a setup as a visit to the doctor - the guitar tech is the guitar doctor, making sure your guitar's healthy and in excellent condition and playability. Well, that's the way I see it.

And its always recommended to have your guitar setup once a year at least, unless you change tunings and string gauges regularly, which would require more frequent setups.

Hi alnino, no problem. I believe the bros above have mentioned their contacts. I'm using a Seymour Duncan Jazz model for the neck as recommended by Subversion. Sounds good to me. What about you?

Hey guys thanks alot man for ur knowledge, very much appreciate it. Ryanz i am currently i am still using the stock ones coz i am still deciding on what to purchase for my neck. So far i have a JB trembucker already but havent install it yet becoz thought of installing it together when i got sumting for my neck. Still tinking to get either SD Jazz or Dimarzio PAF PRO but dunno Dimarzio and SD can combine well or not..Haiz confused haha got any tips?? Anyway Ryanz what pickup using for your middle?

Hi alnino, I'm still using the stock pup for the middle as it sounds ok to me and I'm not using the middle pup often. IMHO I think its better to pair two SD together. The JB model pairs well with the Jazz and the 59 model. It also depends on the genre you are playing. I pick the Jazz model because it has 4 conductors for coil spilt, series/parallel wirings etc while the 59 have also but have to special order. You can visit the SD website to listen to the tones. I listened many times before I decide :) Cheers!

Thanks for the quick response Ryanz. Yah i kinda like the stock in the middle. The only thing now is i wanna get a white color pickup SD Jazz but its like gotta be ordered.. haiz have to wait but hw much is the retail price? any1 can feel me in for the SD jazz pricing and where.. Thanks

I got mine at Davis. White too. They have white the time I bought it. You can give them a call to check for availibility at 63375092. 99 bucks for it. According to Janet (Davis), you can also order it in red, blue...whatever you see in SD website but it takes two months to arrive.

Yup you can Look for Beez. Nice guy. He will share with you his knowledge of guitars while setting up your guitar provided he has the time. So book an appointment with him.

ooh 99? i saw over there its like 100+ maybe i'm blind at that moment haha.. yah dat time they told me it will take 2-3 mths.. wah so long sia.. they only got black ones left..

sorry to hijack.
My guitar dropped on the ground and the bottom part...kinda cracked and splited right thru the wood...

is there anything i could do?

any experience with professional help?

Wow that's a very bad situation u have there, using the doctor analogy again its akin to breaking a bone in ur body. Did the crack go right thru the entire body such that the body is in 2 pieces now or did the crack stop midway or something? U need to know how many pieces ur guitar body is made up of like my Ibanez RGTCR2 is a 5 piece construction. Chances are it cracked along the line where the pieces were glued together. Most obvious way to check is if the crack is in a straight line. What you can do is to get it glued back together but to be honest i have never heard of an 'injury' that serious so u might wanna send it to either of the 2 guys mentioned and have them give u a diagnosis. I've had excellent customer experience from both so yes another vote for these 2 great guys.

it's a Epiphone G400.
it cracked just below the controls area and stop at the controls cavity i believe.
the split didnt go any further in distance but it seems to be getting wider.

It still sounds perfectly and plays perfectly though just fear that the split will break this guitar down in years to come. hahaha
