I'm Thai and working here currently I plan to buy a new Ibanez guitar at Sweelee but a bit worry to find the place to do the perfect set up.
If your guys have any place and estimate cost please share to me. Thks and have a nice day.

+1 for SV. I do all setups at SV as well. =)
Some may prefer their setups to be done elsewhere but I prefer SV to do the job instead.

Look for Beez.

Yup, that's the name of his shop. Nice guy, great prices, professional work, all covered with warranty. Go Google "Look for Beez" to find his address. Hope this helps.

Thansk for all friend here,

I have tried the setup at SV Peninsula Shopping Complex but the service is suck and they give me a lot of damages (Trembolo scew get scatch and thread damage as well as they lost my case handle) on my lovely Ibanez.
Won't go there anymore and this might be only my bad luck but I would say this shop is really unprofessional!!!!!....

Hey pakpoom! I think they're almost all referring to Mike @ woodlands SV, not the peninsular one. Scott from Sound Alchemy and the guys @ TY Music do a hell of a set-up and I advise you go to them :)

If you need to witness the set-up process to avoid misunderstandings should any mishandling take place, then Beez's services are recommended. You can sit & watch him work, he'd even talk you through the process.

i went to scott at Sound Alchemy, he did a great job, but sadly, really bad customer service~ :(
he wont even talk to customer. pfft!.

beez tells u everything that his doing at ur guitar/bass! plus, he super skill!! hahaha

Last time I went poking my nose around, seems like Scott's really busy and all, maybe he's doing something and can't really speak to everyone that comes in x)

Thanks all friends here,

Today I have brought my gear to Scott at Sound Alchemy to re-set up and fix 1 buzz fret. I'm really impressive in the way he take care for my guitar and also come with 2 weeks warranty.
A bit expensive since it cost me 40 bucks while I have done the same for my guitart in Thailand just cost me 20 bucks however the work is professional and my gear come out with perfect condition and I love it.

Well, i suppose the cost of living + rental as well as the price of equipment/cleaning materials would differ greatly in Singapore and Thailand

For $40, its a pretty standard price for guitar set-ups in Singapore =) Glad your guitar is perfect though pakpoom bro!

Maybe you can try learning how to do set ups on your own? It'd save a lot of time + you can set it perfectly to how you'd want it!

Actually i had a similar experience. Hey scott, i was that walk-in customer with that lefy gtar a few months ago, for the pup swap. You didnt even look my way, man, you were engrossed in a conversation with another middle-aged man. Too bad, huh...

TS: $40 is the standard rate for setups here. Cost of living here is high. Compare cost of car / flat here with back equivalents in Thailand? :p
Others I'd recommend are just like others have said, TYMC is most trustworthy, and Beez is my favourite cause he's fun to talk cock with too. (Visited him during the GE/PE this year, started chatting. Spent a lot longer there than I planned to.)

Others bashing SA/Scott: Give the guy a break, he's busy as heck and around that time in November, he just got married I think?

Subjectively, if personalities don't click, if it's a matter of "don't like your face" for either party, maybe one of you was just having a bad day or whatever it is, some people just don't get along. Can't help that.

Objectively speaking, he and his team do great work, especially with electronics. They'll take up even weird/strange requests if they're sure they can accommodate it, and if it's too crazy they'll be honest and tell you you're crazy... I mean that it can't be done. Turn-around times might take a while but they give an accurate gauge of how long it might take, if a little conservatively - I've often gotten the call that a job was completed earlier than the estimated time it would take. But that's also a good measure of how many customers trust them. If you're in a hurry, it's not like there aren't other places with express service - you pay more, but that's how it goes after all.

Did you try to get his attention, or did you just stand there mutely waiting for him to acknowledge you? This isn't a hawker centre where the uncle yells "吃什么" at you. Often a simple 'hi' or 'hey, excuse me' is more than enough. I find it hard to believe that any of the well-reputed shops here would brush someone off if they were merely greeted in a friendly and polite manner.

On the other hand, look at it another way: imagine you're a patron engaged in conversation with a shop owner and someone walks in with a guitar. Shop owner promptly turns to the guy and forgets you're there. Not very nice huh.
