Guitar setup/Fret lowering any recommendations?

Hey any recommendations?

I'm planning to lower my fret and do a setup on my acoustic guitar.

I know the famous ones are at SV guitars, TYmc etc.

I heard there are private ones too. Any good experiences! Thanks

TYMC is actually quite good and their prices are fairly reasonable. A basic setup will cost you $45( if i remember correctly), and usually general maintenance which includes strings changing, oiling of fretboard etc is another $20. However that time they did not charge for that and i got free polishing/oiling, pretty good service! If im not wrong the luthier is Sebastian.

Other wise you can look for Raymond at LutherMusic at , i must say his work is quite good and professional. Generally basic setup cost $50, maintenance $20. However price varies depending complexity of the issues.

You can also contact Jarvis Wong at guitarsaddle@hotmail.com, he stays at hougang and his setup cost $80 including cleaning/general maintenance, but he's very professional and you can expect your guitar to be ready on the day itself. But i would rather you upgrade your saddle to FMI( i got my done by jarvis and it really improves the tone/sound of guitar significantly) for $100 as this is inclusive of setup!

These are the 3 luthiers i would recommend for any acoustic guitar setups!

Cheers!
JC

Fret Lowering? Is there some fret buzz?

I'm not sure if there's so many 'Luthier' in town?
I spell it with a Capitol letter L. Hats off to them.

BTW, what do you need to accomplish to be qualifies as a luthier? :p

I agree with Jingg, go to Jarvis and upgrade your saddle to FMI for $100 which includes a setup. He does fret levlling too, do contact him for the cost and details.

However, it really depends on the value of your guitar, if it's a very basic starter guitar there's not much reason to spend to much to mod and set it up. But if it's a really good guitar, then of course go to Jarvis to make your good guitar even better.
