i don't know if this forum have this thread before. search the last 4 pages. nothing, so i create this thread.

i have a question to all you guys out there. where do you send your guitars for repair. who do you trust and who is the most reliable to fix the problem of your guitar PERMANENTLY. my friend got sick of sending his guitar to a certain repair shop that i shall not mention. he spend loads of cash but still his guitar is not fixed.

thanks for those who help.

oh so it's dan's u're reffering to...
if it is i agree lah(they're sick)...my fren sold his bass to them at $150 n they set the price at $380...

guitar workshop is at bras basah...u take escalator up to 3rd level then turn right(turn left u'll see swee lee)

guitar connection is at peninsula plaza...same building as at dan's but at b1..

as 4 my fren's guitar teacher...i can giv u his no. if u want :D

personally, for woodwork, GC, bro's scallops came out really well from there. for electronics, i'd say mikemann :D he just installed a seymour duncan lil59 for me, and it works wonderfully. also, compared to GC's tech, mike gave far more of an explanation about the circuitry and stuff, more or less in layman's terms. i don't claim to understand all of it, but heck, i understood most ^^ also, turnover time was good, gave it to him on saturday evening, got it back on sunday 3.30pm

Hi bro,

Try Malcolm...had my guitar set-up , fret levelled, changed nut etc. Superb workmanship. IMHO , the best in SG. U can email him for price details.

Sori bin4christ - I dun do repairs for anyone no more except my own axes...

I think all the so-called repair shops have got their strong points & weak points....

Dan isnt the best in town BUT at least he doesnt OVERCHARGE like some other shops who bring the lambs to the slaughter! As for marking up of the bass...i mean he is a licensed dealer who has to make a living & Im sure other shops would do the same too...think about it

I can vought for Dan's preamp installation on accoustic guitar (He currently sub handles of ranking sports pre-amp installation). I was suitably impressed myself and had him install a preamp on a classical of mine & it was great. He also is a wiz with broken guitar necks.

However, Dan's finishing wise & electronics - BE WARNED.. I would recommend Malcolm or Edwin or Embryo or Beez from Yamaha.

IMHO
cheers

fgl bro,i think u quoted the wrong msg lah...haha...

wat do dan's do 4 ranking again?
oh yeah..coma to think about it,i'm sure kelvin(or watever his name is) of guitar connection also buys stuff cheap n sell them at high price...

I just throw away guitar and buy new one if damaged, broken or get scratch ....................

then I wake up.

I am trying to learn to do everything myself. There is so much great stuff on the web these days.

I will buy $100 guitar to try re-fret soon. Wish me luck.

bin4christ...I mean if U ever broke your guitar neck in two or wanted to install a preamp on an accoustic guitar - then I would recomend Dan. That's his forte...dont go there for firing, finishing

There is much great information on the web. However, it takes a fair bit of knowledge and experience to get it right. The $100 guitar you are goin to buy will probably mean a fingerboard which isn't very level. To invest in basic tools would actually cost you more than a refret itself. It's fun to DIY, but patience is the key. Nothing in guitar repair is rocket science. However if you need help just post a question here and I'll try my best to help. Hopefully other more experienced lutheirs/techs can contribute too. I would like to see this forum as an information portal rather than blatant self advertising. =)
