HI Guys, i need to touch up and refinish guitar crack and dings. Who here has the expertise? Where and how much average? Thanks

Interesting.

I've never tried them but someone recommended I check them out based on the work done on their guitar.

I did ask for a quotation and yes, they are not cheap.

However, to be fair, it can also be argued that it would be priced appropriately if the work was of professional standards.

Hi, if you can describe to me the type of finish I may be able to help. If its some kind of burst colour though, even the best repair person will leave a smear of evidence when touching up cracks and dings. Its not always easy to get the exact mix of colour.

It is a solid colour. Just touching up the side of the neck where the lacquer cracked. Also to cover a deep ding on the side of the neck. It should be light purple colour. I saw on Stew Mac web that there is a kit for this purpose but i am afraid to ruin the guitar though. ANy other advice?

I know that shop too but a couple of my friends tried SGH. They are rather expensive and have attitude problem.

True to a certain extent. I once bought a new guitar for a setup there and the guy told me "Your neck has warped", without even taking a look.

The sales staff and their boss are very nice people though. Helpful and friendly.

Where to go for repairs

Hi guys you can try out guitar connection, repair rates are pretty reasonable and staff there are friendly. The owner of the shop Kelvin, was previously from guitar workshop located at ming acarde. Now he has setup on his own and has more than 15 yeras of experience in repairs. Shop is located at exlcesior hotel B1 02/03 right behind guitar 77

Hi anyone has sent to any guitar tech to remove dents in finishes on acoustic guitar?
By buffing out only or perhaps with refinishing? Looking for success stories. Thanks!

There is no point in touching up one or two dings only because even if you someone is able to do it, they can never get back the same colour as the previous finish. There is no such thing as "make it like brand new again" when you talk about touching up a finish.

The only way to deal with it is a full refinish but take note that it affects resale value plus it's not cheap. we are talking about the range of $350 and above.

Alot of people think refinishing is just spraying another colour and that's it. paint needs time to dry and you'd need the right tools to buff it to shine. the fastest refinish needs at least 2 months but it's better to let the paint harden and that would take more than 3 months for sure. You don't want the finish to have impressions left behind by fingerprints right?

Like I said, it can be done but it's not going to be cheap. for acoustic guitars it depends on how deep the ding is. Some tops are almost paper thin. people might accidentally sand through the wood, which is a bad thing of course.

Before you ask who can do refinishes (a lot of people can, just that they are reluctant), you must first ask yourself: "Am I willing to spend more than $350 on a refinish?"

Go to guitar workshop, bras basah. They did a splendid job in repairing my LP studio with cracked neck. Pretty cheap also
