hi guys,
i need your opinion regarding changing guitar neck (22 to 24 fret).
im using ibanez s series w/22 fret. thanks :)

hi bro. it's not a simple swap. the newer S-series 24-fret neck requires a pickup mounting ring compensation. take a look at this pic:

this is a pic of my S420, the top portion of the ring had been compensated at the factory to make way for the 24-fret neck. the second thing to note is that the 22-fret S-series neck does not feature a pocket cavity which allows further reaches to the pickup.

the above pic of my S1620 clearly shows that the 22-fret S-series neck features an over-hanging fretboard instead. hope this helps.

swapping necks might result in wrong scale length / intonation problems that cannot be solved @@

yes yes, I have to agree with the intonation part. It's a smart thing that Ibanez came out with a 24 fret version of their S series guitars.

The only thing you can do, if you INSIST on neck swapping to a 24 fret neck is to hunt for those old square heel RG necks, remove the neck pickup, measure properly and fit it into the 22 fret S body. In my honest opinion, just get a 24 fret S Series.
