Get the new highway ones. Get the highway one HSS. At swee lee $1160 only!!! Made in USA. You can get the single coil sound and add heavy distortion without the buzzing.......

the highway one is kind of like a "lower end" American model.

with $1k, you´ll be better off getting a Japanese strat instead. their craftsmanship is on par, if not better then the American models.

most of them come with USA fender pickups..

however they have only have 21 frets(like the original models they are meant to replicate), and the electronics are not as good as the USA ones.

there are models with alder and basswood body...most people would prefer alder...but its up to your own personal taste.

hmm... whatever happened to my reply on this... :?:

anyway, like i was saying, the Am Std was discontinued in 2000 to make way for the American series. paying $2K for one is insanity. before its demise, these can be bought for $1K flat... i bought the Am Std tele for <$1K...

the Highway1 is a confused American (no offense to any browsing this forum), its electronics & hardware are of far eastern origin but the tone is killer. the finish is IMO a love/ hate relationship, but i feel that its thin finish contributes to the Highway's unique tone. oh, FYI the Highway's neck are actually leftovers from the American Standards...
