Guitar Care and Strings

I'm looking for a fretboard cleaner/moisturizer. Which one would you SOFTies recommend? I only know of Dunlop's cleaner. And my frets are tarnished. How can i let it regain its shine? I'm using an Ibanez SA260FM. Not sure what kind of metal is used to make the frets.

And for strings, which strings are good? I only heard of the D'addario and Ernie Ball? Is DR strings good? And where can i buy Elixir Strings for electric guitar?

There are no strings that are the best, its all about personal preference. There are many brands of strings like D'addario,Ernie ball,DR,Elixir,K.garage, dean markleys and more.Elixir strings are coated guitar strings that won't rust easily but expensive, you can get them at Davis.Different brands of strings have different feel and tone,so its about personal preference when you choose your strings.

Ernie balls rust really quickly. For string cleaners you may want to try ernie ball wipes.

If you want colored strings you can try Aurora strings haha. It's really eye candy stuffs(mine are red strings on a pitch black guitar xD). For string cleaner, I think most people use fast fret. It makes the strings really smooth.

Coated strings like Elixir and DR extra life are strings that will last long.. but IMO they will make your tone ruddy.

In other words they colour your tone after a while..

I dont know about the rest but for my Lespauls i use GHS boomers, and for my Tele i use D'addarios.

Though they rust fast, the tone produced for that short period of that string life, especially GHS to me, is rather fantastic.

If you really want coated strings, if im nt wrong Ernie ball just came out with coated strings towards the end of last year. Nt sure if they have arrived in SG yet though.

For fretboard cleaner/moisturizer, I use Planet Waves Hydrate Fingerboard Conditioner on all my guitars with a rosewood fretboard. Works pretty good for me, although it won't darken the fretboard (which some people seem to desire).

For strings, it is definately personal taste. For me, I am a bit shallow, can't really tell much difference in sound, but I just love the coloured ball ends on D'addario (just need to screw upone time to get really annoyed!) so have pretty much stuck to that for many years..
