Guitar Bridge problem

nevermind

New member
Hi All,
recently i just change my electric guitar string and i can never get it in tune .
Later i realize its because the bridge is being 'pulled and lift ' up whenever i try to tune it .
How is the problem of this ? Do i have to send it for repair or can i do a DIY repair ?
Thanks in advance

Your older strings were thinner right?
With an increase in gauge, the tension on the strings are higher
this causes a stronger pull on the bridge

dont worry, so far there's probably no permanent damage
i would suggest you send your guitar for a simple set up
get a professional, or someone who knows what he's doing to re-do the bridge settings

another important question to consider now would be...
do you want a fixed bridge? that would mean fixing the bridge onto a permanent placement
in most cases, this change is reversible should you change your mind

cant really give more details until you let us whether it's a floyd rose or trem bridge

I'll assume for this. Yours is the trem bridge & this is probably one of the rarest time that u changed strings & your guitar isn't that new anymore.

lst n foremost is of coz, your gauge for the strings. If you chose a thicker set, tension is increased.

If it is the regular 9s, i think the spring has lost it tightness and you need to get new ones.

maybe u cd try changing the strings n tune it one at a time..starting from the thinnest 1st.. so dat the rest of the older strings will hold on to the position of ur bridge..

i believe that NORMALLY applies for locking trems..

Thank you for the feedback..
Mine is a tremolo brigde .
The guitar was left untouch for quite sometimes being i change to whole set of thicker strings.
( Previous E string was 38 , now is 48 ).. and yes it is a 10years old pacifica. Wanted to post a pic here but not sure how to.

I managed to keep brigde under control until i tune the last E bass string.

Qn: can i solve the problem by switching back to my usual thinner string ? Btw, i itchy finger went to loosen the spring screw at the back of the guitar. I seriously hope that has not affect any setting.. all the while i have been using ernie ball 8.5 mm..

if you loosen it yeah the bridge will tilt forward.tighten the springs.experience the guitar yourself.none of us here have come to know anything without trying it out ourselves.

hi all.
i change back to my thinner string and have solved the problem.
Haa.. lesson learnt at a small price..
Thanks for all the feedback !!
