GUitaar for noob

Hi Guys,

Im am a total noob when it come to guitars...well, maybe not atotal noob but enuf of a noob

Anyways, I wish to buy a electric guitar, I want teach myself mainly and my budget is around SGD$200, any recommendations? what i am lookin for is a guitar pack.

The kind of music that I like are mostly metal , rock, hardcore etc...

Hope you guys can help me out

check out the reviews page, there's a couple of reviews on cheaper guitars and also packages...

u may wanna try luther or davis, just ask for a starter pack they should give everything u need!

Try the SX packages, its around your budget plus an amp...

so you might wanna rethink abt the sx strat.
maybe you can hold on and save up, then wait till the EOY sales, see whats up.

if you play those kind of music, i suggest you get a pack with a humbucker guitar, maybe that sx les paul pack

spikes - Yup, did have alook at the review, frankly, the guitars look pretty good but the prob like wat anep said above it "isn’t a shred/ metal affair".

But then, considering that im really a beginner, I might not be able to play stuff like LOG, Trivium, Megadeth etc anyways!....did check out the sx website, saw the poison series, man the scorpion looks sweet!(have a thing for scorpions, prob due to being born in nov!) any idea if they are available in SG if so, how much?

anep - Thanks man ....yup, i knw wat u mean but like i said above, me aint Rusty Cooley so might not be able to play tat kinda music just yet...but u are right, I might just wait till the EOY sale, not really in any rush actually, i mean, have put off gettin a guitar for 7+ yrs...so a couple of mths wont hurt

My classmate in Yamaha has an SX guitar with a scorpion inlay around the 12th fret, I'm guessing you're referring to that one?

I dunno about the tone since the Yamaha practice amps in the studios are crappy ones and don't really show how good the guitar being used is..... But IMO the scorpion inlay is really tacky, it's plastic and looks cheap. Though different people have different perferences

mero - SX has 2 models with the scorpion inlays, one is from the poison series the other is its own wit a body tat looks alot like the schecter scorpion...its plastic huh?...okay, will take note...any isdea how much?

frutloopz - it's the one on the Poison series, on the website it's the bottom left one I think. Not really a fan of guitars with no face markers but some people can live by side markers. I'm not one of them :lol:

A 1000 apologies for the late reply, was kinda busy this past couple of days doing of all thing, shopping for toilets(im moving house)....

Anyways, whats the overall view of SX in general? cos I dont wana spend too much cos frankly, im just starting to learn, am a "sunday" student, in other words, gonna be mostly teaching myself, hance the n00b tital

Any other recommendations? say with abt a $300 budget? I dont mind buying the guitar and amp seperate but dont wana go too much out of my budget ...im not realy brand concious(yet) but i dont want a total piece of junk either,,,
