GP5 Scale Tool

I was wondering if anyone can teach me how to use the scale tool and tell me more about it.

Lets do a simple one here...lets say the C Maj Scale.Open the GP5 and choose the guitar fretboard by clicking on the icon in the toolbars at the top.(see image)

Then click on "Scales" at the fretboard toolbar and you will see a window to prompt for the root note and the scales of your choice...in this case we choose "C" as the root note and scale choice "Major"....

Now all that is marked are notes that are in the C major scale...this is an example.

If you want a C kumoi scale ...then choose "C" as the root note and scale choice "Kumoi"...simple as that..hope it helps!!;)Have fun...

Note::I'm just making it simple as this is what the poster requested...

You can also select a subsection of the song, then u fire up the scale tool, and it will tell you what scale is suitable for that segment of the song. It helps alittle if u are trying to solo over a particular section and are clueless abt the "right" scale to use.

As far as i know, how it achieves this is by scanning the song section for all the notes used in that section, and then cross checks with all the available scales in the GP5 database.

That is also why the scale tool tends to reveal too much sometimes, because to GP5, C major is equivalent to D dorian and E phrygian and so on.
