If I recall, the Feds raided them a couple of years back too. But I cant remember what for.

You're right, and I think it was a similar issue as well. Gibson were using some forbidden woods and etc.

They are aren't they?? Only the Madagascar ebony and Brazilian rosewood are banned from export.

BTW, I tot Homeland Security deals with terror threats. And yet they raided Gibson.
Must be some 'killer' gtrs in there LOLs

The one raided Gibson was the Fish and Wildlife Service, which enforces the CITES treaty, and is under the Department of the Interior. The US Customs Service is under the Department of Homeland Security, so technically, the enforcement of not allowing guitars with the forbidden woods into the US does come under their jurisdiction.
