Gibson Dark Fire

>.<
guitar is becoming too high tech. what we need is just traditional guitar which can twangggg.
gibson should stop trying to make high tech guitars and improve their QC.

This has been discussed a lot of times in overseas forums....I guess this will also step into "a new breakthrough that won't sell" from Gibson

i'm betting on an 8000 dollar list price. still doesn't beat the moog guitar though. :)

edit: turns out it has a list price of US$3600. that isn't half bad considering it's gibson we're talking about here. the limited edition first run shld be arriving soon, if that's what the ad on the swee lee website is referring to.

i think its more like a bfg, with more stuff.

why bfg? the first thing is that they discontinued bfg, which has a p-90 and a humbucker. then they made this look better, put some robot electronics on, some carbon fibre, the same matt back, and binding. its a cross breed between a les paul standard and bfg i think.

^ that's what came to my mind as well. it bears so much resemblance to the BFG i think it's just a BFG with fancy gimmicks and a small computer inside. the carbon fibre looks pretty bad imo, especially on the fretboard where it's nearly invisible.

More like the marriage of BFG and Robot...

Good news is, at least Gibson is more innovative these days. Traditionally-made guitars will always remain the core of the business. I guess there is a market which is ready to embrace new technology in guitar design.

I would say Line6 Variax is the pioneer, but it's about guitar tone modeling.

Something new worth checking out at City Music is the Vox Virage. Triple coil pickup, wow.

I won't be surprised if this turns out to be another failure like the Robot before it. I don't think anyone really wants a computer in a guitar. For the price, I think a good old lp custom is the more appealing option.

is it really that bad?...thought of buying one soon coz in my opinion it can tune at any note very fast so its easier for me to use one guitar for my songs coz i use different tuning for some of my songs that i compose...im the type of person who prefer traditional or 'old skool' regardless of guitars, cloths or music but in this case in my eyes i see the dark fire as a 'revolution'...well seriously this is my ultimate opinion...no matter how good or basic ur guitar/gears is...if u do not know how to play it well, controll it well and make full use of its abilities...then u still suck no matter what...

p.s : i've been playing for the last 12 yrs..i play punk, ska, indie n metal...so no need for flamers out there...im just stating my opinion...

last note : any feedback on 'should i buy dark fire?' would be nice...thanx

actually if it comes in at the us price it would be something cause i think at that price, it's cheaper than a standard.

Wonder how it sounds like though....
