2330 - LATE: Sham (Plainsunset) on the Decks

Hi everyone! Again!

I am doing another event at Ministry of Sound. While Flow has been my primary focus for the last few months, this show is designed more like a regular local original live music showcase with a platform at a larger venue in mind. I am only utilising the SMOOVE (Rnb/Hip-hop room) for Ghetto Live as yet. The bands themselves will be playing out of the VIP room due to the FOH in the cage arena feeding back into the mics.

To be completely transparent, I'm working on a more intimate level with MOS (They are co-organising) in the facilitation of this show and am being given a small production budget which I am sharing to pay the bands with. I will NOT be asking anyone to sell tickets for this show, which may or may not become a series depending on the initial turnout. As our team has already gotten a good impression with MOS, the plan now is to capitalise on this relationship and get more and more local live original acts into credible venues/platforms.

The bands on the line-up (Which have already been on the FLOW lineup for ease of administration) know that the first budget given to me is VERY small - its barely even enough to cover the cost of the equipment. I put aside a couple of hundred bucks for the bands and Flybar and Ivy's Vendetta, being bands managed by myself, were so kind to volunteer to play for nothing. Which is Wrong, if you ask me. It would be serious waste to miss out on this foothold yet unethical to get free labour, so I would beseech the other bands on the lineup to SHARE the cash I will be giving you guys instead of letting people play a set with no renumeration

Bear in mind, that I have come to terms that I will probably be making ZERO DOLLARS for this event myself.

But please HELP ME HELP YOU: We got successful with FLOW, but if no one shows up at this event, we'll be back at square one. (And thus, no more ministry of sound for live bands)

SLOTS AVAILABLE
NO MORE SLOTS AVAILABLE FOR GHETTO LIVE. Check here again for future instalments

If G.L. becomes a regular stint, I will pick 3 bands every time and perhaps one DJ and let them decide if there should be any other comers. This way, some degree of power is held by the bands themselves

bands playing, can i have your contacts! i wanna get involved, have my band play (for free) and help out wherever I can. it's about time i do stuff instead of sitting around on my ass.

*bump*

Saito's got a nice thing going on here, do support if you can!

Flybar should be playing it at the first possible opportunity yeah. Pity we cant do it this time round.

Hi Saito,

Our bassist Joel will be back in January. The Leaven Trait will be back in 2007 as well. Our apologies for not being there on the 21st.

Thank you for the invitation! (btw, we didn't know we were on the bill to begin with! ) :)

See you next year. /m/

Sincerely,
Hambril/Joel/Roslan/Ben

huh? I booked you guys for the 21st four months ago bro.

Are you guys cancelling on me last minute?

NO.

I'm sorry. I cannot do metal bands, any "Core" bands or anything too far off the mainstream mark because of the restrictions laid upon me by Ministry of Sound (and our sponsors). I hope you guys understand.

Right now we are on a roll with the success of FLOW due to mass appeal, but it would be very hazardous to jeopardise our prospects by going too niche.

Hmmm looks like I have 4 open slots. And the event is next thurs. If things dont move quick, I'm going to have to do something.

Actually, I told you guys THREE TIMES

The first time was when I made contact with Sevenfalls when Huixian from I-S interviewed you guys at Tiet Studio. Roslan was there.

Secondly with Roslan and Syed (again) at Youth park after Cancer Warriors.

Thirdly when I met Ben from Double yellow line and reminded him after pitching him to do events at Gashaus.

The date of the event has not changed since then.
I take it you guys are not interested in playing for me anymore?

err mark, im very sure theres some miscommunications here man...

by then, ive found out that my TLT bassist will be overseas for the whole of Dec and remembered telling you that man. then u talked bout the FLOW gig wif regards to Sevenfalls. haha

anyway, don't worry bout the empty slot left by TLT. If its fine with you, Syawla Evol will replace our slot instead. can or not mark? paiseh for the miscommunications yea, hope it doesnt bring u much trouble

ps: and trust me, we would very much love to play for ur gigs man. and we dont back out of gigs unless we really really really cant make it like this occasion :(

pps: Sevenfalls is still on and good to go for the gig tho! :D

thanks ben. I'm really sure if you told me a bassist couldnt make it that day I would have immediately wrote it down. Bro I'm a journalist by profession. Its a miscomm...

Anyway, do come by

Love,
Saito

Glad to have the matter cleared up. We run shows too and we understand how it works. Plus we feel its good to update/confirm with bands when the event is close. We are not the 'cancel last minute' sort of band.

To prevent more misunderstandings from happening(online, if any) :

emg-rocks = Roslan
wylduer = Ben

Would be good to contact me directly too, just in case Roslan is busy with Sevenfalls. Or better still, either one of us, as one contact person makes it easier for the event organizer and the band.

We love playing live. Anywhere, anytime. :)
Thank you once again for your invitation and my sincere apologies for any turbulence icaused in your preparations.

We hope to see you at your shows and ours. Thanks Mark.

Respectfully yours,

Ben
