For sale, are three first-gen FET condenser microphones by Rode, all of which are no longer produced but remain in near mint condition.
Rode NT1 (Variation 1 circa. 1996)
Unlike the ubiquitous second generation NT1A, the NT1 has a white/gray finish and houses a Neumann K67-like capsule that delivers a rich and open sonic character that does justice to vocals and acoustic instruments e.g. guitar / piano / ukulele.
The NT1 indisputably has a very very low self-noise which can benefit recordings with low SPLs. Unlike most microphones found in the prosumer market these days, the NT1 utilizes high-quality components from WIMA, Hitachi and Roderstein that forms a transformerless and balanced output. Although the Rode NT1 and NT1A are two different microphones, many prefer the NT1 for its open-sounding nature.
Excels in: Vocals, piano, ac. guitars, violins etc.
Freq Resp: 20hz – 20khz
Pattern: Cardiod
This sale includes:
- Rode NT1 microphone
- Original Rode NT1 microphone case
Market Price: S$425
Price: S$300
Rode NT1 (Variation 2)
Sharing the same components and capsule, this second variant of the Rode NT1 houses its guts in a visibly shorter body with the text “Rode NT1” imprinted on it. It also shares a similar headbasket design as the 1st variant.
Excels in: Vocals, piano, ac. guitars, violins etc.
Freq Resp: 20hz – 20khz
Pattern: Cardiod
This sale includes:
- Rode NT1 microphone
- FREE microphone Shockmount
Market Price: S$425
Price: S$270
Rode NT2 (circa. 1995)
The NT2 looks absolutely nothing like the new NT2A due to the design its housing body. Akin to the popular Neumann U67/87, the Rode NT2 comes with a specially dented headbasket that minimizes internal reflections and sonic colouration. Unknown to the designers from Rode, this headbasket design was patented by Neumann and was later discontinued by Rode.
The body of the NT2 also houses a center-terminated capsule with high-quality handpicked components from WIMA, Roderstein, transistors from Hitachi and a JFET from Siliconix. Unlike the NT1, the NT2 has a dual-diaphragm capsule that empowers the user to choose between two polar patterns instead of the default cardioid. This microphone also enables the user to high-pass or pad the incoming signal.
Excels in: Vocals, drums, piano, ac. guitars, violins etc.
Freq Resp: 20hz – 20khz
Pattern: Cardiod, Omni
This sale includes:
- Rode NT2 microphone
- Microphone popshield
- Original aluminum flightcase
Market Price: S$450
Price: S$320
