Would like to sell my collection of a matched quad vintage EL34 with Dual D getters. These are unused from the time I bought them. If there is enough interest, I will post some photos. Here are the details:
(1) Description and Date: EL34, all 1961 date codes, Xf4 tubes with dual D getters (many people consider DD getters to be the best EL34s; but yes, of course it's subjective)
(2) Print: Due to age, print is gone but factory code is clear; "L" factory code (ie made in Philips Brussels factory)
(3) Boxes: Came with Miniwatt boxes, but cannot determine if these were their original boxes.
(4) NOS: The tubes were bought from a reputable US seller, and the tubes were described as NOS (New Old Stock). However, it is difficult for this to be verified. So I think it can be best described as tubes that test like new. See test results below.
(5) Matching: The tubes were matched by the US seller, and according to him they were matched within 5% of plate current (Ip) and within 5% of Gm. The US seller's description of the Ip matching process as follows: "Matched on curve tracer at 350 mA plate current at 0 volts grid bias (40 mA at -20V)". Ip reading is clearly indicated on the box. Gm is not indicated on the box but the US seller confirmed it's at 11,000 micromhos tested on Hickok TV 2 operating at 250 plate volts; ie test results are that of a new tube.
(6) Testing: I don't have a tube tester, but did send the tubes for testing and confirmed no gas, no leak, no shorts and passed filament continuity and life test. Gm can't be confirmed as it's a different tester as the US seller's. All tubes tested on my own amp, worked perfectly and sounded great!
