Fret Distance

Hi again forums :)
I was wondering if different guitars would have different fret lengths.
Like a GA fret would be shorter den a Dreadnought fret ?
Or Dreadnoughts dont have a specific fret length ? :o

Does fret length depend on the TYPE of guitar or ... ? :o
Hehe , hope my sentencing & phrasing has been clear enough

i think it just depends on the neck length, some have 24 inches and some have 25.5 inches, so for example, the length between the 4th to 5th fret of a 24 inches neck will be slightly shorter than the length of the 4th to 5th fret of a 25.5 inches neck.
correct me if im wrong :D

Scale length does NOT refer to the length of the neck. It's measured as the distance from the nut to the bridge.

Agreed. A guitar can have a shorter neck, but if the bridge is further from the fingerboard, it can have a longer scale length. Fret spacing affects scale length, as does the location of the bridge.

Dreadnoughts can have short scale lengths or long scale lengths. The body shape and type of guitar doesn't determine the fret spacing it will have. It depends on the guitar model itself.

Don't lose sleep over fret spacing and scale length, though. If you try a guitar and find it comfortable to play, it means the scale length and fret spacing is suitable for you.

Fret positions and bridge placement depends on the scale length, not the other way around.

Different scale lengths do have an effect. With all other things being equal, longer scale lengths add string tension. Which make your strings tighter and hence a tad brighter. Vice versa for shorter scale lengths, which have slinkier strings and a lil mellower tone.

Another factor in the 1001 others that make up your instrument's tone and feel.

distance from nut to the 12th fret and 12 fret to the saddle must be the same else intonation out
