Free running/ parkour heard of it?

I've heard of it, but i haven't actually seen any locals here do it. I'm sure there are though. Honestly i'm quite intrigued by it all. Wouldn't mind trying it out but the constant fear of injuring my hands should an accident happen is quite a big deterrence. Morever, it doesn't look cool with protective gear on :D

parkour is gonna be the next fad just like breakdance. where it seems cool and pretty much extreme in the first place but people get sick of it real soon imo. other than that ...

My friend talked me into trying it once. I came *this* close to injuring my hands while trying to cross a wall. Didn't dare to try it again.

what is it?

Ok the idea is this. You're given an ending point, and the object is to reach it. Catch is, you have to complete it in the fastest time possible versus others, or in other words, you have to do crazy stuff like bypassing walls by climbing over them, jumping down stairwells, flipping over hedges and for the pros, even crazier stuff like jumping off from the second storey of a building, and then getting back on your feet to run again. Basically it's like a urban obstacle race.

I heard some people have their own scoring system for style, speed and what not when running, but i'm not really sure of that. Only tried the sport once, and that once was enough to scare me.

oh wow!!! THAT SOUNDS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, and some of the accidents that happen look awesomely painful...

The sickening "crack" and the limb is twisted in a most awkward manner. I guess it's all about the technique of learning to fall properly, balance etc. There was one Discovery Channel did a documentary on french guys who free ran. Now that was really awesome. Did anyone watch that?

yea pooo i saw that
i remembered this dude doing a hand stand on the ledge of a rooftop. right at the corner of the roof...then he fell backwards down the building and landed somewhere...that's gotta be pretty scary... but looks really fun..

nononononono!!! thats not the real philosophy of le parkour.. what you're describing is FRPK or freestyle parkour, the competitive spin off of parkour made by power and money hungry guy.. i used to pk alot until i hurt my back(non-pk related). the real philosophy of parkour is moving through your environment with speed and fluidity.. i cant really give a good insight on pk but go to www.pksg-hq.tk or www.parkour.net for more info.

fad to some, philosophy to others.. just like guitar, no? some take its as a hobby, others seriously.. of course there would be the 'oh-look-at-me-i'm-cool' poseurs but there are those who are more involved with the philosophical side of it..

Ahhhh..there ye have it. Mr Strats Traceur Le Parkour filling us up on the definition. Eh wad happened to the pk crew? The nazir all..or wadevr his name i forgot. N heard frm shakti he doesnt mix ard wif em anymore..
