Floyd Rose/ Edge III Bridge questions

Hey i would like to know how do i change strings for a Edge 3 bridge on guitars like Ibanez RG350DX. Floyd Rose is on guitars like the Schecter Synyster Custom.it would be great if you could help me.

nowadays Ibanez uses Edge for their floating trem system. Previously, they used Lo-Pro and Lo-TRS (well at least mine is...), which require you to cut away the ball at the bottom of the string. For Edge, i think you don't need to.

i see that you created a thread asking what guitar to buy..you looking for floyd rose guitar? i think Ibanez should be a good start. Try their RG series, they have quite a few with Floyd Roses. And it would be better to buy 1st hand, as a starter. Remember to do research first. Ultimately, get one whose sound you like most, as RG series are quite extensive.

the edge 3 trem tends to wear out faster compared to edge or edge zero/edge pro.
hence that will cause tuning stability to be unstable.

not very sure, maybe you can youtube it to look for reviews.

dunno whether sweelee stocks them, need to call them or go down. The best is to go down and test it out also. dunno how much it cost though, my guitars are all 2nd hand, haha.

What is your budget? The RG Prestige models have the Edge Zero/ Edge Pro. The Prestige models are the high end models of Ibanez and the prices start from 1k plus. The strings changing procedures for any floating tremolo is the same.

i can pay at most 1.1k.. but still need time to save up.and i looked through the RG prestige models on the Ibanez website but i can't find any which looks good to me..the pink RGT320Z's looks fine.and where can i buy an RG prestige and its hardcase?

i think all of the prestige models comes with the hardcase. however doubt u can find a new piece within u're budget. maybe u can try to get a used one , it's better off in the long run compared to the rg350.

With your budget, its difficult to get a Prestige model. The RGT320Z cost USD 2.4k. So the price in Singapore Dollars will cost higher with shipping charges etc. You can check its availiabilty at Swee Lee. They are the local Ibanez distributor.

To the Thread Starter:
The link Ryan provided you is a very comprehensive guide to re-stringing for floating bridges. Yes, the re-stringing method for both edge and flyod are pretty much the same.

Alternative (the way I do it)
Place a magazine or newspapers just beneath your bridge so that it's leveled. Once done, remove all six strings. (the magazine or newspaper will maintain your bridge level when the strings are removed). With all 6 strings removed, you can do your fretboard cleaning / conditioning. After that just string up the guitar, tune it and you're ready to go

Yep, as suggested by the others you could try the RG models. I've tried 3 of them, all good My 2nd guitar was the RG350DX, it's a good guitar for starters.

Is the RG350DX a good guitar for experienced players too?. What other RG models, with Edge III, are worth checking out and doesn't cost a bomb (less than 1k)?

Hi mus, first of all, I do not think the RG350 is in the starter's category. I have the RG370 which is pretty much the same model except the RG370 does not have a pickguard. Agreed, the RG350 should serve the needs of both the unexperienced and experienced. It's worth the buy.

i just went to swee lee (bras basah) and i din see the rg350dx.. i only saw a jem jr and the john petrucci one(i think they are not the signature models) so the RG350dx is worth the buy?cause i cant use too much money nowadays.

They could be out of stock. Why did'nt you check with them when you were there? If you are not sure on guitars, get someone who knows about guitar to guide you. Its hard to tell you if the guitar is worth to get as different players have different views. Get the guitar which feels good to you. If you want an Ibanez, go to Swee Lee and try out. They have a lot of models there.

serious ar, got JPM there ar? what does it look like? cos John Petrucci switched over to endorse Music Man a few years back and i don't think Swee Lee carry Music Man guitar, i think.....his Ibanez JPM is rare....

i only rmb seeing Marty Friedman's MFM1 a few months back. it has star inlays and another star on the body, near the bridge.
