hey guys, new here so pardon my ignorance if any. a few questions to ask :

have anyone seen the fernandes ravalle (dave kushner of vr's guitar) being sold here in sg ? if so anyone played it, is it any good?

another question, i owe an epiphone lp and i'm currently still looking fer a sound i like, i play mostly hard rock, metal and ballads stuff. any recommendations on pickups and pickup combinations ? what distortion pedal would u guys recommend ? kinda need some help cuz i suck lol

thanks alot

For pickups, I won't go so far as to reccomending you a neck pickup, because frankly, my neck pickup doesn't cut it. It's good, yes, much better than stock, but... it's just not there.

I play more or less the same genre as you. So I'd reccomend a JB in your bridge. That or an Invader, or a Custom. But my first choice would be a JB.

Get that classic metal sound. Well balanced, great for pinch harmonics and stuff. I especially like chording with the JB. Trust me. I'm using it.

Otherwise, an Evo or PAF Pro would be good.

If you wanna go all-out, then EMG's though in my opinion they lack soul.

You mentioned ballads yes? Throw a Dimarzio Air Norton in the neck. It's warm and sweet, with singing qualities.

thanks alot guys ! :D i was considering a jb bridge too. mmm air norton, never heard e sound before. haha too bad there isn't a way to hear how the pickup would actually sound like on e guitar before buying it. (or is there?)

Hmm, I nail the tone nearly exactly in the Dream Theater solo of, The Spirit Carries On with the Air Norton in the neck. It's the best example i can think of right now.

hahah i love that song. mmm it must sound pretty good. but anyone knows where i can get sebastian bach's bring em bach alive ? his voice is really good. :)

Personally, each pickup will sound a wee bit different in each guitar.

Your guitar is gonna be made of different materials from JP, and he has helluva lot more efx too.

You can get a rough idea what it sounds like through those songs, yes.

But the best way is to get someone who's set up is as similar to yours as possible, with the pickup already in it, and test it. Not very easy to find,
