Fender Pro Jr

Several of the forums online have claimed that the Pro jr was less boxy sounding and a better blues Jr without the bells and whistles. I must agree how the tone of my broadcaster seems purer without the other controls. And with less choices during playtime , its easier to develop finger tone without the distractions.

To those bothered with the inherent hum , unscrew the middle screw between the 2 knobs. Doing that greatly reduces the hum. Queer that years ago i never really saw many float around for grabs at the buy and sell but these days......

I've read about the Pro Jr vs Blues Jr debate. Both great amps within the price range concerned. Never really understood how the Pro Jr is less boxy, cos the Blues Jr definitely has a lot of clean LOUD headroom for a 15w amp. I'd have to say application wise, I do prefer the Blues Jr, the EQ is a good bit of tone shaping, in the case of the Pro Jr, you really better be willing to deal with just THAT tone. Which is pretty darn kick ass in it's own right.

And yes many of these amps are easily spotted on the classifieds these days. I have a hunch that most people buying these end up realizing that fender amps aren't exactly known for meaty heavy ODs or distortion. Not all tube amps grind and growl, same probably goes for the Vox amps turning up ever so often. The application they are suited for are pretty niche. Or it could simply be that ppl are underestimating just how darn loud these things are.

Having blurted all my random noobie comments, all I can say is that, this:

oh yeah the master control knob , wish i had that onboard. 3 years ago i bought the Ltd Blues Jr , like you mentioned , it had the headroom which was great! Sold it after 6 months. And yes that isn't much clean headroom on the Pro Jr , but that being said , it sounds good at volume 4. Now now , should i splurge on mods or sell it off for a Princeton 65 Reverb RI.
