It's a short scale, do you want to play a short scale? :)

what's wrong with a shorter scale??

a strat's neck is 25.5" and a les paul is 24.75". a les paul's neck is a shorter scale but... hmm... your point is? :?:

Like what wangdexian mentioned .. the Fender Mustang is a short scale bass .. around 30" .. most suitable for small sized players or beginning players that are chilidren that have small hands.

But if you want to get the bass i don't see any reason why you shouldn't .. soundwise i'm not too sure though because i have not tried it out personally .. but that time i saw it at swee lee it was over 1K i think .. if i'm not wrong ..

I don't know, I'm just asking. There's nothing wrong to be honest.
Maybe he would prefer a full scaled bass like a 34 or 35 inch.
Or a short scale like a 30' could suit him since he plays guitar more.
A Strat and LP neck maybe at most a 1" difference. But this one is like a 5" difference man. I have never played a short scale either, so I have no idea what the sonic differences are compared to a full scaled bass so it's up to him.

nah ... the mustang's scale length is a personal preference thing

have a shortscale 30" and a full scale jazz 34" ..

the major difference lies within the first 12 frets , subsequently , the remainding frets are of comparable size.

there is a notion that shortscale basses are more suitable for asians and women because of the smaller frets and more importantly lighter weight

i agree with the lighter weight bit but .. smaller frets dont really hinder playability much .

..

I tried out a 1968 Mustang bass before. It was very thumpy, quite like diet p-bass. The small scale neck put me off.

Also saw one buck shot (a Msian punk band) use it at the G77 gig.
