It's finally here! Even after 20 years, who could forget that signature opening guitar riff to "smells like teen spirit" ?

Legendary guitar indeed! Somehow the right handed version just looks wrong but it's still awesome!

I wonder if the book is sold separately.

Best part is, the MSRP won't drain you. Well, Swee Lee still makes the final decision though.

I don't mind waiting for their sale and checking out the price. Might actually be more worth while in the end.

Still, nothing beats the look of an old vintage Fender. WOO!

Cobain probably bought a jag cos it was affordable, then he modded it till it was more like a Les Paul.

Please don't give money to Fender and/or Courtney Love by buying this guitar. Get a used jag and mod it to YOUR preference. That'll be closer to the original Cobain jag than any reissue.

affordable? considering Kurt was thrashing MIJ Fenders at the end of every Nirvana show, I don't think money was the issue for him. It might have something to do with his preference for shorter scaled guitars.

the one unique feature about it is that although the guitar is a 1965 Fender Jaguar, it had the wrong Fender on. Kurt bought it like that. I'm surprised that Fender actually managed to find the logo. on top of that, they even managed to replicate that decal and fit it on the right handed versions.

I wonder if they referenced it with the real deal. it looks too....... babied. Kurt was abusing the crap outta this guitar. It should have more dings around.

He was also thrashing Fernandes guitars. Breaks my heart. But he's loaded so he can break whatever he wants to.

Haha, I guess some people prefer it to be clean and in mint condition rather than thrashed. Well, you can always thrash it yourself to get it done the way you like it ;D

The problem is that it IS relic-ed, but not to the extent of Cobain's original, which IMHO makes it sort of a half-assed job.

I'd imagine people who want this guitar would either want it to be in either like-new condition, or trashed like the original.

Oh and the new Squier J.Mascis Jazzmaster is coming very soon...that looks more interesting to me.
It's sort of like a cheaper version of the Classic Player, with a nicer finish/pickguard.
Would be a great companion to the Squier Classic Vibe Duo Sonic.

At first, I was inclined to hate it as it seems to be another way of captilazing on the name of a legend, but seeing its specs I'd say it's a pretty cool guitar for that price(1.3kusd). Tuners are solid, nice pickups, custom wiring, etc. I was expecting it would be at least 3kusd due to Kurt's status specially to those Generation X guys/gals who now have enough means to buy more than decent stuff.

Fortunately, it seems this time around, some guys at Fender are sensible enough to realize that if they would price it like fine diamond, it would be an anti-thesis of what Kurt stood for in the 90's. So I'd say great work, Fender.

I disagree. It's USD$1299 only because it's MIM. If there were a MIA Custom Shop model, you can bet it'd cost $2000.

Currently, the MIM Jags that are available are the Classic Player and Classic Player HH. Both retail for US$799.
BGW brought them in for $1300 I think.
