of all the 4 releases, i fancy the jazzmaster as well- it's the single coil + humbucker combo versatility. i've not been attracted to mexican fenders too much but these are very enticing...

Here's hoping the jazzmaster will be under $1k. Might as well try for a CIJ Jazzmaster if it's any more expensive, I guess.

no it's based on this direct conversion (didn't say it was in the first place). i've talked to some people delaing with fenders- like you, i'm kinda bewildered why there's such a price diff. one of the reason is that the blacktops are now enjoying an introductory offer which are not given to importers.

if only there were immediate comparisons for our consideration. maybe a little waiting would reveal how affordable the instruments in this series would be...

these are mexican Fenders, experience told me they aren't that consistent with QC so it's best to try one locally before buying.
